Young isn't in the lineup for Saturday's game against the Dodgers.

Young will get a breather Saturday after going 2-for-3 with a double and a stolen base in Friday's series opener. Brett Baty will fill in as New York's first baseman and bat eighth.

The Mets recalled Wagaman from Triple-A Syracuse on Saturday.

With Juan Soto (calf) landing on the injured list Saturday, Wagaman will return to the active roster to help bolster New York's bench depth. The 28-year-old isn't likely to receive regular opportunities with the big club, though his ability to play at both of the corner infield and outfield spots could enable him to pick up an occasional start.

Mayo is out of the lineup for Saturday's game against Atlanta.

Mayo will be out of the lineup for a third consecutive game while Christian Encarnacion-Strand picks up another start at third base. Though Mayo should still be a regular presence in the lineup versus left-handed pitching, he could fade into more of a part-time role versus righties after having gone 4-for-16 (.25o average) while striking out in half of his plate appearances since the All-Star break.

The Mets placed Soto (calf) on the 10-day injured list Saturday with a strained left calf.

Soto made an early exit from Friday's contest against the Dodgers due to a sore left calf, marking the second time he's been forced out of a game because of his calf since the All-Star break. MRI results confirmed Saturday that the 27-year-old has suffered a Grade 2 strain, per Jorge Castillo of ESPN.com, and although no definitive return timeline has been established just yet, interim manager Andy Green confirmed that Soto's absence will be longer than the two weeks he missed with a right calf strain in April. Jorge Polanco figures to see consistent starts as New York's designated hitter while Soto is out, and Eric Wagaman will come up from Triple-A Syracuse to replenish the team's bench depth.

Suarez (groin/illness) will be activated from the injured list to start Sunday's game against the Blue Jays, Mac Cerullo of the Boston Herald reports.

Originally scheduled to start Tuesday's game against Baltimore before falling ill, Suarez now seems to be fully healthy and ready to rejoin Boston's rotation after landing on the injured list due to a groin strain in early July. His first start back will come against a Toronto lineup that's been ice cold of late, posting just a .603 OPS across 18 games since the beginning of the month.

Romo is not in the White Sox's starting lineup against the Astros on Saturday.

Though his playing time is trending back up after Kyle Teel (ankle) moved back to the injured list Tuesday, Romo is still likely to be part of a timeshare behind the plate with Edgar Quero, who receives the starting nod at catcher Saturday. The 24-year-old Romo has produced a .515 OPS with five home runs, one steal, 11 RBI and nine runs across 134 plate appearances this season.

DeLauter isn't in the lineup for Saturday's game against the Rays.

DeLauter will step out of the starting nine Saturday after going 1-for-3 with a double, a walk and a run scored during Friday's loss. His absence will put Travis Bazzana in the DH spot, opening up second base for Gabriel Arias.

The Guardians recalled Dion from Triple-A Columbus on Saturday.

After being sent down to Triple-A on Friday, Dion will now turn around and rejoin the big-league bullpen to make up for the loss of Shawn Armstrong (calf). Dion owns a 5.17 ERA and 1.66 WHIP through 15.2 frames with Cleveland this year and will likely be limited to low-leverage work as long as he's in the majors.

The Guardians placed Armstrong on the 15-day injured list Saturday with a left calf strain.

Armstrong gave up three runs in just two-thirds of an inning during his outing Friday, and the Guardians will now be without his services until at least Aug. 9. Will Dion will return to the majors to fill the vacancy in Cleveland's bullpen.

The Giants are expected to recall Whisenhunt from Triple-A Sacramento to start Sunday's home game against the Angels, Shayna Rubin of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

With Trevor McDonald (elbow) recently landing on the injured list, the Giants will turn to Whisenhunt to fill the fifth spot in their rotation. The 25-year-old southpaw has given up four runs in 10.2 innings across his first two MLB starts this season, and he'll draw a favorable matchup on paper Sunday against an Angels lineup that's logged just a .656 OPS since the beginning of July.
