Baty went 1-for-2 with a three-run double during the Mets' 10-4 win over the Rays on Wednesday.

Baty doubled the Mets' 3-0 lead in the third inning with a bases-clearing double off Griffin Jax. It was Baty's fifth game of at least three RBI this season and second since Aug. 1. Since the All-Star break, he is slashing .229/.281/.434 with four home runs and 12 RBI across 89 plate appearances.

Soto went 2-for-5 with a solo home run during the Mets' 10-4 win over the Rays on Wednesday.

Soto capped the Mets' blowout win with a solo homer in the eighth inning, his 23rd of the season and second since returning from the IL on Saturday. The 27-year-old slugger was shelved by a Grade 2 calf strain for five weeks and figures to see most of his playing time as the Mets' designated hitter over the coming weeks, though he could return to the outfield toward the tail end of the regular season.

Hagenman allowed one run on two hits and one walk while striking out two across three innings in a no-decision against the Rays on Wednesday.

Wednesday was Hagenman's season debut for the Mets, with the 29-year-old right-hander starting the year on the injured list due to a fractured rib. He kept the Rays off the board through the first two innings before giving up an RBI single to Jonathan Aranda in the third. Hagenman tossed only 46 pitches (26 strikes), though that's not entirely surprising given his lengthy stint on the IL. He figures to shift to the bullpen in a long-relief role since Jonah Tong is expected to start for the Mets next week against the Marlins, per Mike Puma of the New York Post.

Bachar will serve as the opening pitcher in Thursday's game against the Giants, Danny Demilio of PittsburghBaseballNow.com reports.

Bachar will draw his eighth opening assignment of the season after giving up just two earned runs in 9.2 frames across his last five outings. He tossed 28 pitches in 2.1 innings during his most recent appearance Saturday and will likely have a similar workload Thursday before handing the game over to Carmen Mlodzinski.

Palacios went 1-for-4 with a two-run homer during the Rays' 10-4 loss to the Mets on Wednesday.

Wednesday's game turned out to be a blowout loss for the Rays, but Palacios' two-run homer in the fourth inning cut Tampa Bay's deficit to 6-4. It was his first home run since Aug. 3 against the Rockies and his first runs driven in since Aug. 19 against Toronto. His home run could be what Palacios needs to break out of his slump, as he entered the game having gone 1-for-25 over his eight prior outings.

Jax (6-10) took the loss against the Mets on Wednesday, allowing six runs (three earned) on seven hits and two walks while striking out one batter across 2.2 innings.

Jax was activated from the 15-day injured list ahead of Wednesday's start after a one-month absence due to elbow discomfort. He put the Rays on the back foot early by allowing three runs in the first inning before giving up three more runs in the third frame on a bases-clearing double by Brett Baty. Jax threw just 63 pitches and will likely have a limited workload again for his next turn through the rotation, which lines up for next week on the road against Atlanta.

Cantillo (9-8) took the loss against the Blue Jays on Wednesday, allowing nine runs (four earned) on nine hits and two walks while striking out six across 5.1 innings.

Luck was not on Cantillo's side Wednesday, as a throwing error by Angel Genao in the second inning led to the Blue Jays scoring five runs in the frame, capped off by a three-run homer from Vladimir Guerrero. Cantillo finished his outing with nine whiffs and seven groundouts while tossing 102 pitches (66 strikes), and he has recorded at least five strikeouts in five of his last seven outings. He'll take a 3.81 ERA and 1.48 WHIP over 141.2 innings into his next start, which is lined up for next week against the Orioles at Camden Yards in what projects to be a two-start week for Cantillo.

Guerrero went 3-for-4 with a double, a home run and five RBI during the Blue Jays' 11-0 win over the Guardians on Wednesday.

Guerrero has performed well below expectations this season, but the Blue Jays are surely hoping that Wednesday's performance is a sign of things to come for the 27-year-old first baseman. He put Toronto on the board early with an RBI double before belting a three-run homer in the second inning. Guerrero's RBI single in the sixth brought him up to five runs driven in -- his most in a game since his six-RBI showing against the Yankees on June 29, 2024 -- and it also brought him up to 1,200 hits in his major-league career. The Blue Jays will need more of this version of Guerrero -- who still has just a .693 OPS through 125 games this year -- as the team pushes for a playoff spot.

Cease (10-5) earned the win against the Guardians on Wednesday, allowing four hits while striking out four batters across six scoreless frames. He did not issue a walk.

Cease's streak of seven-plus strikeouts ended Wednesday at 19 starts, one shy of tying Randy Johnson and Curt Schilling for the MLB single-season record. Nevertheless, it was another strong outing from Cease, who needed only 83 pitches (56 strikes) to get through six innings, which was the first time since May 24 against the Pirates that he tossed fewer than 90 pitches. That's a positive sign for the Blue Jays, who figure to use Cease as much as possible down the stretch in an effort to reach the playoffs. He'll take a 2.25 ERA and 1.04 WHIP over 156.1 innings into his next start, which is lined up for next week on the road against the Athletics in what is shaping up to be a two-start week for the AL Cy Young candidate.

Pages (hand) is scheduled to begin swinging a bat within the next couple of days, David Vassegh of AM 570 LA Sports reports.

Pages landed on the injured list Aug. 22 with a fractured left hand and underwent surgery to insert a compression screw to speed up the healing process. He was expected to require 4-to-5 weeks to recover following his procedure, and his impending return to activity is an encouraging sign that he remains on track to rejoin the active roster before the regular season is over.
