Smith isn't in the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Cardinals.

Smith went 1-for-5 with two RBI and a run scored Tuesday during his first game back from the injured list, and he'll retreat to the bench Wednesday as the Dodgers look to ease him back into action. Hunter Feduccia will fill in behind the plate and bat ninth.

Lombard (knee) is not in the Yankees' starting lineup against the Angels on Wednesday.

Lombard will be out of the Yankees' lineup for a fourth consecutive game while recovering from right knee inflammation. He has been cleared to run and do light work on the field, and with the Yankees off Thursday, Lombard could be back in action for Friday's series opener against the Padres. Jose Caballero will start at shortstop and bat seventh in Lombard's absence Wednesday.

Morillo earned the save in Wednesday's 1-0 win over the Phillies, walking one and striking out two in a scoreless ninth inning.

Morillo was tasked with facing the top of the Phillies' order in the ninth inning after Arizona took a 1-0 lead in the eighth. He promptly struck out Kyle Schwarber and Trea Turner, earning his third save of the season. Morillo has been stellar of late, delivering 17 straight scoreless innings to stake his claim as the Diamondbacks' primary closer. His ERA now sits at 2.11 across 55.1 innings this year with a 1.05 WHIP and 64:21 K:BB.

Painter didn't factor into the decision Wednesday against the Diamondbacks, allowing just two hits and no walks over seven scoreless innings. He struck out six.

Painter was stellar Wednesday, as he held Arizona to just a pair of singles, though he ultimately came away with a no-decision as the Phillies failed to provide any run support in an eventual 1-0 defeat. Painter has now delivered three straight quality starts, allowing just four runs while striking out 21 over 20 innings during that span. He's lowered his ERA to 5.55 across 105.1 innings this season with a 1.37 WHIP and 91:37 K:BB. Painter is currently in line to face the Astros at home his next time out.

Heineman is not in the Angels' starting lineup against the Yankees on Wednesday.

Heineman will get a breather after going 2-for-6 with a double and two runs scored over the first two games of the series. Travis d'Arnaud will start behind home plate and bat ninth while forming a battery with southpaw Reid Detmers.

Ruiz passed concussion protocol following his removal from Wednesday's game against Atlanta, Danielle Allentuck of The Washington Post reports.

Ruiz was pulled from the game after taking a foul tip off his mask in the fourth inning. Although he managed to avoid suffering a concussion this time around, the 28-year-old backstop's history of concussions/head injuries could cause the Nationals to err on the side of caution and sit him down for another game or two. Harry Ford would benefit from extra playing time during any games Ruiz may have to miss.

Guzman is not in the Angels' starting lineup against the Yankees on Wednesday, Rhett Bollinger of MLB.com reports.

Guzman is out of the Halos' lineup for a second consecutive day, an indication that his playing time might be trending down after slashing .181/.224/.278 with one home run, eight RBI and a 4:21 BB:K in 78 plate appearances in August. Oswald Peraza will man the hot corner and bat eighth against the Bronx Bombers on Wednesday.

Diaz is not in the Astros' starting lineup against the White Sox on Wednesday.

Diaz will be on the bench for the second time in three days while Christian Vazquez starts behind home plate and bats ninth. Diaz has gone 11-for-37 (.297) with two home runs, five RBI and five runs scored over his last 12 appearances.

The Padres are pausing Musgrove's (elbow) rehab assignment because he's having issues recovering between starts, Kevin Acee of The San Diego Union-Tribune reports.

Musgrove feels fine during his starts and has pitched well on his rehab assignment, most recently tossing five innings of one-run ball in his last outing. However, he's felt fatigued in between outings, specifically in the area of his surgically repaired right elbow. Musgrove had been slated to make a fifth rehab start this week, but it's now unclear when he will take the ball next. The Padres remain hopeful that Musgrove will be able to pitch for them before the end of the regular season, but it's far from guaranteed. The 33-year-old has not thrown a pitch in the majors since the 2024 postseason.

Walker is not in the starting lineup for Wednesday's game against the White Sox.

With Walker getting the night off, LaMonte Wade is making the start at first base and batting eighth against right-hander Davis Martin. Over his last 20 games dating back to Aug. 9, Walker is slashing just .139/.182/.236 with two home runs, nine RBI and a 3:18 BB:K across 77 trips to the plate.
