Brazoban (lat) will begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A Charlotte on Wednesday, James Fegan of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.

Brazoban landed on the 15-day injured list Aug. 25 with a left lat strain, so he shouldn't require a lengthy rehab stint with Charlotte. Picked up at the trade deadline from the Mets, Brazoban has been hit hard in 10 appearances with Chicago, allowing seven runs on 12 hits and six walks with just five strikeouts across 10 innings.

The Mets are leaning toward recalling Tong from Triple-A Syracuse to make a start early next week in Miami, Mike Puma of the New York Post reports.

Tong has had a disappointing season at Syracuse, posting a 4.54 ERA, 1.37 WHIP and 126:59 K:BB over 107 innings. He's pitched well of late, though, logging a 2.39 ERA in August and tossing 12.2 scoreless frames over his last two outings. Tong could make additional starts down the stretch for the Mets, though that could depend on how he pitches next week, if he is indeed officially tapped to make a start.

Torkelson is not in the starting lineup for Wednesday's game against the Twins.

Torkelson is 1-for-12 at the plate over his last five games and hasn't homered since July 29. On the season, he's slashing .221/.315/.404 with 20 long balls, 63 RBI, 54 runs scored and a 58:165 BB:K across 528 plate appearances. Colt Keith is batting third and manning first base Wednesday.

Dingler is not in the starting lineup for Wednesday's game against the Twins.

Eduardo Valencia is making the start behind the plate and batting fifth for Detroit. Over his last 22 games dating back to Aug. 7, Dingler is hitting .107 with a .307 OPS across 91 plate appearances. He has just two extra-base hits and no home runs during that span.

The Brewers activated Kuhnel (shoulder) from the 15-day injured list Wednesday and designated him for assignment, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports.

Kuhnel is recovered from the right rotator cuff tendinopathy that sent him to the IL in early July, but the Brewers have decided they don't have room for the reliever on their roster. The 31-year-old has authored a 4.84 ERA and 22:12 K:BB over 35.1 innings between the Athletics and Brewers in 2026.

Kelly is absent from the lineup for Wednesday's contest versus the Brewers.

Kelly started at catcher in the first two games of the series, so he will get a break during Wednesday's tilt. Miguel Amaya will be behind the dish and will bat ninth for the Cubs.

Taylor will start in right field and bat eighth in Wednesday's game versus the Brewers.

It's the third straight start for Taylor but the first start against a right-hander since Aug. 9, with this one coming against the flamethrowing Jacob Misiorowski. Taylor has slashed a robust .413/.462/.565 in 19 contests since joining the Cubs, so manager Craig Counsell is playing the hot hand.

Ramirez (back) remains out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Brewers.

Ramirez has not played since Sunday as he battles back spasms, though there's been no indication thus far that he might require time on the injured list. Matt Shaw is again handling second base for the Cubs.

Gilbert (undisclosed) will start in center field and bat leadoff Wednesday in Pittsburgh.

Gilbert had to be scratched from Tuesday's lineup with an undisclosed injury, but he is back in there a day later. The 25-year-old is coming off his best month, having posted an .801 OPS with four home runs across 27 games in August.

Alvarez is not in the lineup for Wednesday's game in Tampa Bay.

Alvarez was behind the dish for the first two games of the series, but he'll take a seat in the finale. Luis Torrens is doing the catching and batting ninth in the rubber match.
