Fedde (7-8) picked up the win Saturday in a 3-2 victory over the Twins, allowing two runs on three hits and two walks over five innings. He struck out four.

The right-hander lasted just long enough to qualify for the win and benefit from Andrew Benintendi's go-ahead solo shot in the top of the sixth inning. Fedde tossed 57 of 88 pitches for strikes in his first win since July 31, and over seven appearances (one start) in August he's put together a 4.29 ERA, 1.38 WHIP and 14:9 K:BB in 21 innings. If Davis Martin (finger) comes off the IL when rosters expand in September, Fedde is likely to shift back into a long-relief role.

McGonigle went 1-for-3 with two walks and an RBI in Saturday's 2-1 win over the Dodgers.

With the bases loaded in the bottom of the ninth inning, McGonigle ripped a deep drive into the left-center field gap that actually bounced over the fence but counted as only a single in a walk-off scenario. The 22-year-old has slowed down at the plate in August, batting .240 (24-for-100) over 25 games with four homers, one steal, 16 runs and 18 RBI, but McGonigle remains the favorite to take home the AL Rookie of the Year Award at season's end.

Cavanaugh is not in the Giants' starting lineup for the second game of Saturday's doubleheader against the Diamondbacks.

Cavanaugh got the start in the first game, going 0-for-3 with a strikeout in a 7-1 loss to Arizona. He'll be on the bench for Game 2 while Andrew Knizner starts behind home plate and bats sixth while forming a battery with Yunior Marte, the latter of whom is making his major-league debut.

Jansen (4-5) recorded the win in Saturday's 2-1 victory over the Dodgers, retiring the only batter he faced.

The Tigers closer was brought in to get the final out in the top of the ninth inning with a runner on base and barely escaped, as Teoscar Hernandez drove a cutter into the left-center field gap that Javier Baez was just able to track down. Baez then doubled to lead off the bottom of the frame and came around to score the winning run, handing Jansen his third win since the All-Star break. In 12 innings over that stretch, Jansen has converted six of seven save chances with a 3.00 ERA, 1.08 WHIP and 16:7 K:BB.

Montero didn't factor into the decision in Saturday's 2-1 win over the Dodgers, allowing one run on four hits and one walk over 5.1 innings. He struck out three.

The right-hander tossed 50 of 73 pitches for strikes but fell short of recording his 10th quality start of the season, and the Tigers didn't push across the winning run until the bottom of the ninth. Montero wraps up August having posted a 2.83 ERA, 0.91 WHIP and 13:8 K:BB over five starts and 28.2 innings, and his spot in the rotation should be secure even when Jack Flaherty (forearm) is cleared to return. Montero will look to get back in the win column in his next outing, which is set to come on the road next weekend in Cleveland.

Lombard was removed from the second game of Saturday's doubleheader against the Red Sox due to right knee discomfort, Gary Phillips of the New York Daily News reports.

Lombard appeared to tweak his right knee during his plate appearance in the third inning on a check-swing. He stayed in to finish his at-bat before being replaced by Amed Rosario in the top of the fourth. Lombard will undergo further tests to determine the nature and severity of his knee injury, and the Yankees should have an update on the 21-year-old's status during or shortly after Saturday's contest.

Snell didn't factor into the decision Saturday, allowing one run on three hits and three walks over five innings as the Dodgers fell 2-1 to the Tigers. He struck out 10

It's the second time in four starts since coming off the IL that Snell has racked up double-digit strikeouts. The southpaw has been in Cy Young form since returning from a three-month absence after undergoing a NanoScope procedure to remove loose bodies from his elbow, giving up just three runs over 23 innings with a 31:10 K:BB. Snell will look to keep rolling in his next outing, which lines up to come at home next weekend against the Nationals.

Wood (oblique) will play seven innings in left field for Double-A Harrisburg on Sunday, Spencer Nusbaum of The Athletic reports.

It'll likely be Wood's only game on his rehab assignment, with Nationals manager Blake Butera saying Saturday "we'll probably give [Wood] Monday off, then we'll see from there." Wood could be back with the Nationals as soon as Tuesday, when major-league rosters expand to 28 players. He is in the final stages of his recovery from a left oblique strain that caused him to go on the 10-day injured list in early August.

The Giants transferred Schmitt (knee) to the 60-day injured list Saturday.

The move opens up a spot on the 26-man roster for Yunior Marte, who will start in the second game of Saturday's doubleheader against the Diamondbacks. Schmitt underwent surgery in late July to repair a torn meniscus in his left knee. He's technically eligible to return in the last days of the regular season, but he'll likely be sidelined for the rest of the year given that the Giants are all but eliminated from postseason contention.

The Giants optioned Lonsway to Triple-A Sacramento following Game 1 of Saturday's doubleheader against the Diamondbacks.

Lonsway was promoted from the minors ahead of Saturday's doubleheader and officially made his major-league debut in Game 1, when he allowed three runs (two earned) on five hits while striking out two batters across two frames. He'll head back down to Triple-A in order to make room on the active roster for Yunior Marte, who will start in the nightcap.
