Knizner signed a major-league contract with the Giants on Tuesday, Justice delos Santos of The San Jose Mercury News reports.

Knizner has yet to play in an MLB game this season, but he's slashed .294/.393/.552 with 12 homers, 38 RBI and 33 runs scored across 234 plate appearances at Triple-A. He'll now reunite with the Giants to provide depth at catcher, replacing Zach Morgan.

Ortiz (back) is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against San Diego.

Ortiz will miss his third consecutive start as he continues to battle an upper-back injury. Brice Turang will slide over to shortstop and lead off, while David Hamilton mans third base and bats eighth for Milwaukee.

The Tigers placed Mayfield (undisclosed) on the minor-league 7-day injured list Tuesday, Emily Waldon of Baseball America reports.

Collins is taking a seat after going 0-for-4 with a strikeout in the series opener against the Dodgers on Monday. Tyler Tolbert gets the start in left field Tuesday and is batting seventh.

The Pirates placed Johnson on the minor-league 7-day injured list Tuesday due to a left knee injury, Danny Demilio of PittsburghBaseballNow.com reports.

Johnson left Saturday's game for Triple-A Indianapolis after four innings due to the knee issue. He appeared to have suffered the injury while he stumbled over the first-base bag while trying to leg out an infield single. The 22-year-old had to be carted off the field with an air cast, but exact details of the injury have not been revealed.

Soderstrom is absent from the lineup for Tuesday's matchup with the Rays.

Soderstrom will ride the pine for the second game of a three-game set against Tampa Bay after going 1-for-5 with an RBI double, a run scored and two strikeouts Monday. Zack Gelof will move over to left field and bat second for the A's.

The Pirates reinstated Yorke (shoulder) from the minor-league 7-day injured list Tuesday, Dominic Campbell of SI.com reports.

Yorke was on the 7-day injured list since June 18 due to a shoulder injury. He has rejoined Triple-A Indianapolis on Tuesday after spending his rehab assignment with Single-A Bradenton.

Lukes is now in the starting lineup for Tuesday's matchup with Boston.

After originally not being in the lineup for Tuesday's game with the Red Sox, Lukes will enter the starting nine after Kazuma Okamoto was a late scratch. Lukes will round out the bottom of the order and play right field as Brett Bateman slides over to center field for Toronto.
