Cantillo entered the sixth inning aiming for a potential quality start but allowed back-to-back doubles to open the frame and was charged with two runs without recording an out. It ended a run of six straight outings in which the 26-year-old allowed two earned runs or fewer, though he still generated a whopping 17 swinging strikes on 80 pitches. He'll take a 3.74 ERA, 1.42 WHIP and 112:52 K:BB across 106 innings this season into a road matchup with the Rays next weekend.

Rushing is not in the starting lineup for Sunday's nightcap against the Yankees, David Vassegh of AM 570 LA Sports reports.

Rushing will head to the bench after he went 0-for-2 with three walks and a run scored in the team's 8-2 win over New York in Game 1 of the doubleheader. Eliezer Alfonzo will take over behind the plate as Los Angeles goes for the series sweep.

Mize exited Sunday's start against the Angels in fourth inning after being struck in the left hand by a comebacker, Chris McCosky of The Detroit News reports.

Mize entered the bottom of the fourth inning having tossed three innings of one-run ball before he took a 108.8 mph ground ball from Jo Adell off his glove hand to open the frame. The right-hander was able to finish the play, throwing out Adell at first base, but Mize was then forced to exit the game. He was already up to 74 pitches on the day, and it's possible that his removal was simply precautionary. More information on the status of Mize moving forward will likely come in the near future.

The Yankees recalled Rodriguez from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre ahead of the second game of Sunday's doubleheader versus the Dodgers.

Appointed as the Yankees' 27th man for the twin bill, Rodriguez appears set to make his first appearance as a reliever after he worked as a starter in his prior four big-league outings. Lefty Ryan Yarbrough is opening the game for the Yankees, but he hasn't worked more than three innings in any appearance this season and will likely be in line for an abbreviated start before the Yankees turn the game over to Rodriguez and their other relief arms. Over his first 17 big-league innings, Rodriguez has pitched to a 4.76 ERA, 1.76 WHIP and 10:11 K:BB.

Yarbrough will operate as the Yankees' opening pitcher for the nightcap of Sunday's doubleheader against the Dodgers, Jorge Castillo of ESPN.com reports.

Yarbrough, a southpaw, will face at least two left-handed batters in Shohei Ohtani and Freddie Freeman, while three of the top five batters in the Dodgers' lineup are left-handed. After Yarbrough's night comes to an end, Elmer Rodriguez figures to follow out of the bullpen. Yarbrough has posted a 3.72 ERA and 1.34 WHIP over 9.2 frames in his last eight appearances, and he hasn't exceeded two innings in an appearance since June 16.

McMahon is not in the starting lineup for the nightcap of Sunday's doubleheader against the Dodgers.

McMahon will head to the bench as New York looks to avoid being swept Sunday. The 31-year-old went 0-for-3 in the matinee, and he'll be replaced at the hot corner by Jose Caballero in the series finale.

The Yankees optioned Bird to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Sunday.

After allowing five earned runs in one-third of an inning in the Yankees' 8-2 loss in the first game of Sunday's doubleheader with the Dodgers, Bird was sent down to Triple-A in advance of Game 2. The Yankees will swap Bird off the 26-man active roster for a fresh bullpen arm in Kervin Castro, who was recalled from Scranton/Wilkes-Barre in a corresponding move.

Castro will be up with the big-league club for the second time this season, after he previously made a two-inning relief appearance May 8 in Milwaukee during his abbreviated stint with the Yankees. The 27-year-old has been one of the stronger performers out of the Triple-A bullpen this season, posting a 2.05 ERA, 0.84 WHIP and 27:6 K:BB in 26.1 innings.

The Dodgers recalled Hurt from Triple-A Oklahoma City to serve as their 27th man for the second game of Sunday's doubleheader with the Yankees, Maddie Lee of the Los Angeles Times reports.

Hurt could be called upon to cover an inning or two in relief while the Dodgers treat the final contest of the twin bill as a bullpen game. Over 32 appearances with Los Angeles this season, 28-year-old Hurt has posted a 4.88 ERA, 1.40 WHIP and 38:16 K:BB in 31.1 innings.

Klein will serve as the Dodgers' opening pitcher Sunday in the second game of their doubleheader against the Yankees, Bill Shaikin of the Los Angeles Times reports.

Klein will make his third start of the campaign but is expected to be limited to one or two innings before turning the game over to the bullpen. The 26-year-old right-hander has posted a 2.41 ERA, 1.37 WHIP and 43:16 K:BB in 37.1 innings over 32 appearances with Los Angeles.
