Santander (shoulder) could resume hitting within the next week, Arden Zwelling of Sportsnet.ca reports.

Santander underwent surgery to repair the labrum in his left shoulder in February, but he "could definitely be a factor" for the Blue Jays by August, manager John Schneider said Thursday. A timetable for Santander's return won't become clearer until he's ready for a rehab assignment, and he will need the equivalent of a full spring training's worth of at-bats before being activated.

Sosa (wrist) could begin a rehab assignment next week, Arden Zwelling of Sportsnet.ca reports.

Out since late May with a right wrist contusion, Sosa has been hitting and going through defensive drills as the Blue Jays' spring training complex in Florida. He is likely a week or so away from playing in games and should rejoin the Blue Jays around July 1.

Barger (elbow) might not begin a rehab assignment until early next week, Arden Zwelling of Sportsnet.ca reports.

Barger continues to make progress with his right elbow inflammation but could need an additional few more days than expected to ramp up activities before he's cleared to play in games. He should still be able to return to the Blue Jays' active roster before the end of June.

Mitchell is not in the lineup for Thursday's tilt versus the Guardians.

The left-handed-hitting Mitchell has been swinging a hot bat, which has earned him more chances against lefty hurlers lately. However, he'll take a seat Thursday as the Guardians send southpaw Parker Messick to the bump. Blake Perkins will patrol center field for the Brewers.

Contreras is not in the lineup for Thursday's contest versus the Guardians.

It's a rare day off for Contreras, but he will get some rest for Thursday's afternoon game after starting the previous five tilts. Gary Sanchez will do the catching and bat sixth as the Brewers go for the series sweep.

Bailey is not in the lineup for Thursday's game in Milwaukee.

Bailey started Wednesday's night game at catcher, so he'll get a breather during Thursday's afternoon tilt. Austin Hedges will grab a start behind the dish as the Guardians look to avoid the sweep.

Kwan is absent from the lineup for Thursday's game in Milwaukee.

The left-handed-hitting Kwan is slashing just .162/.284/.203 versus lefty pitchers this season, and this is the fifth time over the last seven contests that he's been out of the lineup against a southpaw (in this case, Shane Drohan). David Fry will handle left field and Stuart Fairchild will play center field for the Guardians.

Priester will undergo thoracic outlet compression surgery on Monday and is expected to be sidelined 8-to-10 months, Curt Hogg of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.

Priester has dealt with thoracic outlet symptoms since last season, and he attempted unsuccessfully to treat it with rest and rehab. After consulting with Dr. Gregory Pearl on Tuesday, the decision was made to have surgery. Priester expects to be ready to go for the beginning of next season, but the track record of pitchers coming back from this type of procedure isn't great.

Alvarez went 3-for-5 with a run scored and an RBI in Wednesday's win over the Reds.

Getting the start at DH and batting sixth, Alvarez delivered his first three-hit performance of 2026. The 24-year-old backstop has hit safely in six of seven games since returning in early June from knee surgery, batting .320 (8-for-25) in that span with a homer, two runs and three RBI.

Triple-A Lehigh Valley placed Holman on its 7-day injured list May 30 due to an unspecified injury.

After claiming Holman off waivers from the Tigers on May 7, the Phillies optioned him to Triple-A. Before landing on the shelf, he made five relief appearances for Lehigh Valley and turned in a 7.11 ERA, 1.97 WHIP and 12:3 K:BB in 6.1 innings.
