Tomlinson reverted to the Chargers' practice squad Monday, per the NFL's transaction log. Tomlinson was elevated to the active roster for Sunday's game against the Buccaneers and served as the No. 3 tight end behind Stone Smartt and Tucker Fisk due to Will Dissly (shoulder) being sidelined. Tomlinson played in nine of the Chargers' 52 offensive snaps but did not show up in the box score. Tomlinson could be elevated for Thursday's game against the Broncos if Dissly is unable to progress in his recovery enough to play.

The Chargers elevated Tomlinson from their practice squad to their active roster Saturday in advance of Sunday's battle versus the Buccaneers, Kris Rhim of ESPN.com reports. Tomlinson began the campaign on Los Angeles' active roster and caught two of four targets for nine yards through eight contests. The veteran tight end was cut in early November but quickly signed with the team's practice squad, and he'll get his first elevation Sunday. Tomlinson is needed as a depth option at tight end due to Will Dissly (shoulder) being ruled out against Tampa Bay.

Tomlinson recorded a seven-yard reception on his lone target and played 22 of the Chargers' 66 snaps on offense in Monday's 17-15 loss to the Cardinals. With Hayden Hurst (groin) sitting out Monday after missing most of the Chargers' Week 6 win over the Broncos, Tomlinson served as the No. 2 tight end behind Will Dissly for a second straight contest. Tomlinson ran routes on just six of Justin Herbert's 42 dropbacks, instead served mainly as a pass and run blocker during his time on the field. He'll see his playing time take a hit if Hurst is able to make it back for Sunday's game agains the Saints.
