Washington's secondary was abused last week by Tampa Bay's receivers as Mike Evans, Chris Godwin and Jalen McMillan combined for 14 catches for 176 yards and four touchdowns on 17 targets. Nabers was OK in his NFL debut in Week 1 against Minnesota with five catches for 66 yards on seven targets, but even Daniel Jones should help Nabers exploit this Commanders secondary in Week 2.

Nabers had five catches for 66 yards on seven targets in Sunday's 28-6 loss to the Vikings. After failing to catch his first two targets, Nabers made his first catch late in the first quarter, finding a hole in Minnesota's zone defense to pick up 25 yards on third down. He finished with a team-high 66 receiving yards, but Wan'Dale Robinson led the Giants in both targets (12) and catches (six) despite finishing with only 44 yards. Daniel Jones didn't look down the field much as the Giants failed to get into the end zone, so while Nabers clearly looks like the most talented member of New York's offense, he may be held back by the ineptitude around him. The Giants have routinely dominated the Commanders of late, which bodes well for Nabers' Week 2 outlook against a Washington secondary that allowed the most passing yards in the league last season.

Nabers caught four of six targets for 54 yards and added one carry for five yards in Saturday's 28-10 preseason loss to the Texans. The rookie showed off his first-round talent on a spectacular 21-yard catch along the sideline during a two-minute drill at the end of the second quarter, as he pulled down a ball that was slightly overthrown with a leaping catch and got both feet down in bounds to help to set up a field goal. Nabers flashed some chemistry with Daniel Jones in their first game together, and the Giants are counting on the sixth overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft to be the elite downfield threat the franchise has lacked since Odell Beckham was in his prime.

Nabers (ankle), who is not practicing Tuesday, said he has "no doubt" he'll be able to play in Week 1 and that his injury is "nothing serious," Dan Salomone of the Giants' official site reports. Coach Brian Daboll said Monday that Nabers is considered day-to-day after leaving Sunday's practice due to an ankle issue, and MRI and X-Ray tests revealed Tuesday that the rookie first-round pick has indeed avoided a serious issue. Pat Leonard of the New York Daily News reports that the issue is a sprain, which Nabers said won't need any support when he's ready to return to action. It's a relief that his availability for New York's regular-season opener against Minnesota on Sept. 8 isn't in jeopardy, but the injury will force him to miss some practice time in training camp and could impact his status for the Giants' final two preseason games, starting with Saturday's matchup against Houston.

Tests on Nabers' ankle didn't reveal a serious injury, Pat Leonard of the New York Daily News reports. The Giants apparently got favorable results from an MRI and X-Ray, with coach Brian Daboll suggesting Tuesday that Nabers will miss some practice time but isn't expected to be out for too long. Daboll declined to provide a diagnosis or a firmer timeline for his return, merely confirming that the tests didn't reveal anything worrisome.
