Brissett's first drive ended with a Robert Turbin fumble and the second ended with a two-yard touchdown pass to WR Zach Pascal. A high-end backup quarterback is more valuable on a team with legitimate Super Bowl aspirations, but the Colts have made it clear they'd need to be blown away by an offer to even consider trading the 24-year-old. The calculus might change next offseason when Brissett is entering the final year of his rookie contract.

Barkley has been ruled out of Thursday's preseason game against the Colts due to a left knee injury, Katherine Terrell of ESPN.com reports.

Barkley suffered the injury on a roughing the passer penalty, per Jay Morrison of The Athletic Cincinnati, and limped to the sideline and soon after the locker room. Penciled in as Andy Dalton's backup, Barkley is the Bengals' only reserve quarterback with NFL experience, though Jeff Driskel was making a good push in the preseason at unseating Barkley, so they could be in the market for a signal-caller in the coming days. For the time being, Driskel and Logan Woodside are the remaining QBs on the roster.

Winston won't take the field for Thursday's preseason game versus the Jaguars, Greg Auman of The Athletic Tampa Bay reports.

Winston will head into the regular season with an impressive line from three exhibitions -- 30-for-41 passing for 388 yards and three touchdowns versus no interceptions -- but a three-game suspension awaits him. While he's away from the team, Ryan Fitzpatrick will helm the Buccaneers offense. Winston is eligible to return Sunday, Sept. 30 at Chicago.

Allen will likely see a good chunk of reps under center for the Buccaneers in the preseason finale Thursday against the Jaguars, the Buccaneers' official site reports.

With the top three spots on the depth chart essentially settled, Allen is expected to get a long look from the coaching staff before the team begins making cuts to the roster before Saturday's deadline.

Savage is likely on the wrong side of the roster bubble after the Saints acquired quarterback Teddy Bridgewater from the Jets on Wednesday, Josh Katzenstein of The New Orleans Times-Picayune reports.

If the Saints are to carry a third quarterback on the roster this season, the smart money is on it being Hill, who has proven himself as a valuable special-teams asset after recording four tackles in the final five weeks of the 2017 campaign and a blocked punt in the Saints' divisional-round playoff loss to the Vikings.

Allen is expected to play the first half of Thursday's preseason finale, Myles Simmons of the team's official site reports.

Allen figures to have cemented his place as the Rams' No. 3 quarterback. The only issue for Allen is the possibility of Los Angeles going with just two quarterbacks into the regular season. In some ways, Thursday will serve as a tryout for Allen -- if not for the Rams, then for 31 other potential suitors.

Darnold appears poised to open the upcoming season as the Jets' starting quarterback, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.

The Jets have yet to officially confirm that Darnold will be their Week 1 starter, but the rookie's claim to the top job was strengthened after Teddy Bridgewater was dealt to the Saints on Wednesday. The 39-year-old Josh McCown served as the team's primary starter under center in 2017 and performed capably in that capacity, but he seems likely to transition to a backup gig with Darnold demonstrating in practices and in exhibition play that he's ready for the No. 1 role.

The Jets agreed Wednesday to trade Bridgewater and a future sixth-round draft pick to the Saints in exchange for a future third-round pick, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.

With Sam Darnold making a strong case for the starting job and Josh McCown also on their roster, the Jets were always inclined to explore trade options for Bridgewater, who boosted his value by completing 28 of 38 passes for 316 yards with two touchdowns and one interception this preseason. The 25-year-old isn't exactly getting the opportunity he probably had been hoping for, as he'll be stuck behind Drew Brees in New Orleans this season. It's unclear if the Saints view Bridgewater as a potential long-term successor or merely a one-year insurance policy. Whatever the case, Bridgewater is signed to a one-year, $6 million contract, of which at least $500,000 has already been paid by the Jets.

Rodgers and the Packers agreed Wednesday to a four-year, $134 million contract extension, James Jones of The NFL Network reports.

Rodgers' contract status was a frequent topic of discussion during the offseason, but he recently expressed optimism that a new deal would get done when needed. According to Jones, the contract includes over $100 million in guaranteed money, with Adam Schefter of ESPN relaying that the deal could be worth up to $180 million in total. With a surge of added value over the past month, Green Bay reportedly feels inclined to keep Boyle around for the time being.
