Patriots' Mac Jones: Undergoes X-rays after loss

Jones underwent X-rays following Sunday's 10-6 loss to the Colts in Germany, after he said he suffered a bruise, Mark Daniels of The Providence Journal reports.

The nature of the injury isn't known, but perhaps of more import is the fact Jones was benched in favor of backup quarterback Bailey Zappe for the Patriots' final possession of the game. The reason likely was a back-breaking interception from Jones in the red zone with 4:24 remaining in the contest, and he finished with a paltry 170 yards and no touchdowns on 15-for-20 passing. Considering the overall situation, it'll be something to monitor to see if Jones or Zappe will be directing New England's offense after the team's Week 11 bye on Sunday, Nov. 26 at the Giants.

Patriots' Mac Jones: Replaced late in Sunday's loss

Jones was replaced by Bailey Zappe with 1:52 left in the fourth quarter of Sunday's 10-6 loss to the Colts, Zack Cox of NESN.com reports.

With New England down by four points late in the contest, the team turned to Zappe to try to get a spark, though his stint resulted in three of his seven passing attempts being completed for 25 yards and a pick. Prior to being replaced Sunday, Jones completed 15 of 20 passing attempts for 170 yards and an interception, while rushing three times for 25 yards. The Patriots head into their bye week with a 2-8 record and until or unless coach Bill Belichick confirms the team's Week 12 starting QB, there will be a degree of uncertainty surrounding the situation.

  • Ryan Tannehill QB | TEN

Titans' Ryan Tannehill: Inactive as expected

Tannehill (ankle) is inactive for Sunday's game against the Buccaneers.

Tannehill is set to miss his third consecutive game with an ankle injury. Will Levis has taken over the starting job as a result, pushing Tannehill down the depth chart even once he is able to return. For now, Malik Willis will serve as the Titans' backup quarterback.

  • Falcons' Desmond Ridder: Remains in backup role

Head coach Arthur Smith announced earlier in the week that Ridder will remain in a backup role Sunday against the Cardinals while Taylor Heinicke gets a second straight turn as the Falcons' starting quarterback, Michael Rothstein of ESPN.com reports. "We will go with Taylor this week," Smith said. "And reassess going into the [Week 11] bye."

Heinicke replaced Ridder in the second half of the team's Week 8 loss to the Titans and has completed 33 of 59 attempts (55.9 percent) for 443 yards (7.5 YPA), two touchdowns and one interception while adding 34 yards on five carries through his first six quarters as the Falcons' quarterback. Though Ridder has fared comparably to Heinicke from an efficiency standpoint through his eight starts (65.4 percent completion rate, 7.1 YPA) and presents more of a rushing threat, the second-year signal-caller's issues with turnovers (six interceptions, six lost fumbles) have undone most of his good work. According to Rothstein, Smith went on to say Wednesday that he's averse to playing "musical chairs" with his two quarterbacks, so expect the Falcons to put an end to their week-to-week approach to the starting role and settle on a permanent option coming out of their bye. How Heinicke performs against the Cardinals will likely be a major factor in the Falcons' decision.

  • Ryan Tannehill QB | TEN

Titans' Ryan Tannehill: Not expected to play Sunday

Tannehill (ankle) is not expected to suit up for Sunday's road matchup against the Buccaneers, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.

Tannehill continues to try and work his way back from the right high-ankle sprain that's caused him back-to-back absences, but things are trending in the direction of Malik Willis working as the top backup to Will Levis at Tampa Bay on Sunday. Official word on Tannehill's status will come 90 minutes prior to Sunday's 1:00 p.m. kickoff.

  • Sean Mannion QB | SEA

Vikings' Sean Mannion: Moves to active roster

The Vikings elevated Mannion from the practice squad Saturday.

With Jaren Hall (concussion) ruled out for Sunday's game against the Saints and Nick Mullens (back) not yet ready to return from injured reserve, Mannion should serve as Minnesota's backup to Joshua Dobbs in Week 10. The 31-year-old Mannion signed with the Vikings' practice squad Oct. 11 and last appeared in an NFL game in 2021.

  • Tanner Morgan QB | MIN

Tanner Morgan: Cut from practice squad

Morgan was released from the Vikings' practice squad Friday.

Morgan joined Minnesota's practice squad in October before ultimately getting let go days later. However, he returned earlier in the week, presumably as the team looks for depth options with Kirk Cousins (Achilles) out for the year. It looks like they have opted to go in a different direction from the undrafted free agent.

  • Jaren Hall QB | SEA

Vikings' Jaren Hall: Won't play versus New Orleans

Hall (concussion) has been ruled out for Sunday's Week 10 game against the Saints.

Making his first NFL start last week, Hall lasted 11 snaps before he was concussed on a rushing attempt at the goal line. Veteran Joshua Dobbs will make the start for Minnesota after guiding the Vikings to a Week 9 win over Atlanta.

  • Ryan Tannehill QB | TEN

Titans' Ryan Tannehill: Questionable for Sunday's contest

Tannehill (ankle) will be listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Buccaneers, Jim Wyatt of the Titans' official site reports.

As a result, head coach Mike Vrabel relayed Friday that the Titans' backup quarterback for the contest -- Tannehill or Malik Willis -- will be a game-time decision. Earlier this week, Vrabel named Will Levis the team's starting quarterback going forward.

  • Brett Rypien QB | MIN

    Brett Rypien: Signs with Seattle

The Seahawks signed Rypien to their practice squad Friday.

Rypien was just cut by the division-rival Rams earlier this week after he didn't impress anyone while filling in for an injured Matthew Stafford (thumb) in Weeks 8 and 9, completing just 47.4 percent of his throws with zero touchdowns and two turnovers. The Seahawks might be bringing in Rypien for intel on Los Angeles.
