  • Trey Lance QB | LAC

Cowboys' Trey Lance: Serving as emergency QB again

Lance (coach's decision) is inactive but designated as the emergency third quarterback for Sunday's game against the Cardinals, Todd Archer of ESPN.com reports.

Lance also served in the emergency QB capacity in the first two games of the season as he continues to acclimate to the Cowboys' playbook and scheme. If both Dak Prescott and Cooper Rush were to go down with injuries against Arizona, Lance would have an opportunity to make his team/season debut.

  • Derek Carr QB | NO

Saints' Derek Carr: Dealing with shoulder issue

Carr suffered a shoulder injury during Sunday's game in Green Bay, Mike Triplett of NewOrleans.Football reports.

Carr departed early in the third quarter after taking a sack from Packers pass rusher Rashan Gary. After a visit to the sideline tent and then the locker room, Carr is tending to a shoulder issue. If he's unable to return, he'll finish Week 3 action with 103 yards and one touchdown on 13-for-18 passing. Jameis Winston will lead the Saints offense in Carr's stead.

  • Derek Carr QB | NO

Saints' Derek Carr: Leaves Sunday's game

Carr exited Sunday's game at Green Bay due to an undisclosed injury, Nick Underhill of NewOrleans.Football reports.

Carr took a seven-yard sack via Packers pass rusher Rashan Gary early in the third quarter and remained on the turf for a spell before making his way to the sideline tent. Not long after that, Carr was escorted to the locker room. The nature of his injury isn't known, but Jameis Winston will direct the Saints offense as long as Carr is out.

  • Joe Burrow QB | CIN

Bengals' Joe Burrow: Took first snaps in walk-through

Burrow (calf) took the first-team snaps in Sunday's walk-through practice, Jay Glazer reported on Fox NFL Sunday.

The implication here is that Burrow is pushing to play and that the decision won't be made until Monday night. This activity contrasts with Friday's and Saturday's practices, where Burrow worked with the scout team.

  • Nick Mullens QB | JAC

Vikings' Nick Mullens: Active again Sunday

Mullens is active for the third straight game for Minnesota and locked in as the second quarterback ahead of the inactive Jaren Hall.

The seventh-year pro is the backup to Minnesota starter Kirk Cousins. Mullens signed a two-year, $4 million contract with the Vikings in March and went 14-of-20 with 139 yards, one touchdown and no interceptions in a preseason appearance.

  • Logan Woodside QB | ARI

Falcons' Logan Woodside: Serving as emergency QB again

Woodside (coach's decision) is inactive for Sunday's game against the Lions, but he'll dress and serve as the Falcons' emergency quarterback, Michael Rothstein of ESPN.com reports.

For a third straight week, Woodside will serve as the No. 3 quarterback. He won't count against the 53-man roster but will be available if Desmond Ridder and Taylor Heinicke are forced out of the game.

  • Joe Burrow QB | CIN

Bengals' Joe Burrow: Trending toward game-time decision

A decision on the status of Burrow (calf) for Monday night's game against the Rams could go up to game time, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.

The report adds that Burrow, who is officially listed as questionable after logging limited practices Friday and Saturday, has been feeling progressively better as the week has unfolded, but Rapoport suggests that if the QB does get the green light Monday, he may need to play through some pain. In any case, given the timing of the Bengals' 8:15 ET kickoff Monday, those considering Burrow in Week 3 fantasy lineups would have limited pivot options (including backup Jake Browning and Matthew Stafford of the Rams) in the event that he is unavailable.

  • Josh Johnson QB | CIN

Josh Johnson: Let go by Baltimore

Johnson was released by the Ravens on Saturday.

Given Johnson's status as a veteran in the NFL, the 37-year-old is eligible to re-sign with the Ravens as soon as next week provided he passes through waivers. Faced with a litany of injuries entering Week 3, the Ravens were forced to make the difficult decision to release their backup quarterback. Well-versed backup Tyler Huntley still remains on the team and will operate as the No. 2 behind Lamar Jackson come Sunday. It's possible Johnson could be restored as the top backup on the depth chart in short order if and when he rejoins the roster.

  • Jake Luton QB | LV

Panthers' Jake Luton: Joins active roster

Luton was elevated to the Panthers' active roster Saturday, Darin Gantt of the team's official site reports.

The moves comes with starter Bryce Young (ankle) ruled out for Sunday's game against the Seahawks. Luton joined the Panthers' practice squad Wednesday after being let go by the team at the end of training camp. He will serve as the backup for Andy Dalton for Week 3 and could stay in that role for an additional week or two depending on how Young progresses through his rehab.

  • AJ McCarron QB | CIN

AJ McCarron: Joins Cincinnati's practice squad

The Bengals signed McCarron to their practice squad Saturday, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.

The move comes as starter Joe Burrow (calf) has been listed as questionable for Monday's matchup against the Rams. McCarron beat out Trace McSorley in a workout Saturday for the spot. If Burrow is unable to suit up, expect McCarron to take on the backup spot behind Jake Browning.
