  • Patriots' Rhamondre Stevenson: Added competition for carries

Stevenson will have added competition for backfield touches following the Patriots' selection of TreVeyon Henderson in the second round of the 2025 NFL Draft, Chad Graff and Lauren Smith of The Athletic report.

Per Graff, in the wake of the draft, Stevenson, Henderson and Antonio Gibson are poised to lead the team's RB corps this coming season, with Terrell Jennings and reported UDFA signing Lan Larison in the depth mix. Stevenson is coming off a 2024 season in which he recorded 207 carries for 801 yards and seven TDs to go along with 33 catches (on 41 targets) for 168 yards and another score in 15 games. Ball security was an issue for Stevenson in that span, however, with the 2021 fourth-rounder racking up seven fumbles after recording just one (in 12 contests) in 2023. That's an issue Stevenson will no doubt focus on improving, but in any case, the addition of the dynamic Henderson seems destined to cut into his workload this season. A committee approach featuring the bruising Stevenson and the speedy Henderson, with Gibson also sprinkled in, appears the most likely outcome, a looming scenario that is on track to impact Stevenson's volume in 2025.

  • Malik Davis RB | DAL

    Malik Davis: Departs Dallas

The Cowboys waived Davis on Wednesday.

The Florida product signed a reserve/future contract with the Cowboys in early January after spending the entire 2024 season on the team's practice squad. However, it now appears Dallas has decided to move in another direction. Davis last appeared in an NFL regular-season game in 2023, playing 45 special-teams snaps across three contests.

  • Emanuel Wilson RB | SEA

Packers' Emanuel Wilson: Re-signs with Packers

Wilson signed his exclusive rights free-agent tender with the Packers on Tuesday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.

Wilson carried the ball 103 times for 502 yards and four touchdowns in addition to catching 11 passes for 48 yards and one touchdown last season with Green Bay. The 25-year-old will compete with MarShawn Lloyd (hamstring) for backup touches behind Josh Jacobs in 2025.

  • J.K. Dobbins RB | DEN

    J.K. Dobbins: Receives UFA tender

The Chargers applied the unrestricted free-agent tender to Dobbins on Tuesday, Howard Balzer of USA Today reports.

Los Angeles' application of the scarcely used UFA tender means that Dobbins will will count toward the NFL compensatory draft pick formula if he signs with another club prior to July 21 or the first scheduled day of training camp, whichever is the later date. If Dobbins doesn't ink a deal before that deadline, the Chargers will receive exclusive negotiating rights with him. The 26-year-old impressed with a 195-905-9 rushing line across 13 regular-season appearances in 2024, but the Bolts have since invested a first-round pick in rookie Omarion Hampton and signed Najee Harris to a one-year contract.

  • Chris Evans RB | CIN

Chris Evans: Will attend Broncos rookie camp

Evans will participate in Denver's rookie minicamp on a tryout basis, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.

Pelissero mentions that Evans has recovered after missing the entire 2024 season due to a ruptured patella tendon. Prior to the injury, Evans appeared in 34 regular-season games for the Bengals after being selected in the sixth round of the 2021 NFL Draft. His contributions in Cincinnati came mostly on kickoff returns and as a pass catcher out the backfield.

  • Raiders' Sincere McCormick: In mix for depth role behind rookie

McCormick is expected to compete for a depth role behind rookie sixth overall pick Ashton Jeanty, Tashan Reed of The Athletic reports.

McCormick has presumably recovered from the ankle injury that landed him on injured reserve to finish the 2024 season. Prior to getting hurt, McCormick filled in capably as a starter, rushing for 64 yards in Week 13 and 78 yards in Week 14. The 24-year-old running back likely will slide down a couple pegs on the depth chart following the additions of Jeanty in the first round of the 2025 NFL Draft and veteran Raheem Mostert in free agency. McCormick may be competing for a roster spot with Zamir White, who was sidelined by a quadriceps injury to finish the 2024 season.

  • Zamir White RB | LV

Raiders' Zamir White: In mix behind star rookie

White is expected to compete for a depth role behind rookie sixth overall pick Ashton Jeanty, Tashan Reed of The Athletic reports.

Jeanty's expected to take on a workhorse role out of the gate, and free-agent signing Raheem Mostert is better suited to playing in pass-catching situations than White, who has just 21 catches through three NFL seasons. White has presumably recovered from the quadriceps injury that sidelined him after Week 11 in 2024, but he's unlikely to meaningfully challenge Jeanty for early-down work considering White averaged just 2.8 yards per carry in 2024. Sincere McCormick (ankle), Dylan Laube and Chris Collier also will compete for roles in Vegas' backfield.

  • Giants' Tyrone Tracy: Joined by Skattebo in backfield

The Giants drafted RB Cam Skattebo at No. 105 overall to compete with Tracy and Devin Singletary, per NFL.com's Kevin Patra.

Taken 166th overall a year earlier, Tracy never looked back after Singletary's groin injury opened up a starting job Week 5. Tracy started 12 of 13 games from that point forward and averaged 4.4 YPC for the season, despite being stuck in a brutal offense, with the main negatives being five fumbles and five drops. He's the favorite to start Week 1, but it may be an open competition this summer, considering Singletary has a respectable track record as an NFL starter and Skattebo exploded for 2,316 yards from scrimmage at Arizona State last year. Speed is the obvious advantage for Tracy, a former college wideout who ran a 4.48 40 at 5-foot-11, 209 pounds. Singletary ran a 4.66 before he was drafted six years ago, and Skattebo was timed around 4.6 or 4.65 at his pro day this spring.

  • Jaylen Warren RB | PIT

Steelers' Jaylen Warren: Joined by Kaleb Johnson

Steelers offensive coordinator Arthur Smith said the dynamic between Warren and third-round pick Kaleb Johnson will be different than that between Warren and former teammate Najee Harris.

The 224-pound rookie, drafted 83rd overall, profiles cleanly as a replacement for Harris, but that doesn't necessarily mean it'll be a one-for-one thing with Johnson immediately taking 250-plus carries. Harris topped that number in each of his four seasons in Pittsburgh, despite averaging 4.1 YPC or less every year, in part because he never missed a game and was decent enough at blocking and receiving to stay on the field for some passing downs. Johnson may well prove to be Harris' equal or superior as a runner, but Warren could nonetheless take on a larger role than he had the past few seasons if the Steelers aren't confident in other aspects of Johnson's game. Warren signed a second-round restricted free agent tender a few days before the draft, keeping him under contract for 2025 at $5.35 million -- about the same as what Harris is getting from the Chargers, coincidentally.

  • Nate Carter RB | ATL

Falcons' Nathan Carter: Agrees to terms with Atlanta

Carter has signed with the Falcons as an undrafted free agent, Terrin Waack of the team's official site reports.

Carter went undrafted out of Michigan State but didn't take long to find a landing spot as a UDFA. He'll compete for a depth role in training camp in a Falcons backfield that has Bijan Robinson and Tyler Allgeier entrenched in the top two spots on the depth chart. Carter had 499 rushing yards and five rushing touchdowns for the Spartans in 2024 while adding 173 yards and two scores on 18 catches.
