Jeremy McNichols RB | WAS
Commanders' Jeremy McNichols: Opening season on IR
The Commanders placed McNichols (quadriceps) on injured reserve with a designation to return Sunday, Zach Selby of the team's official site reports.
As a result of the transaction, McNichols won't be eligible to make his 2026 debut until at least Week 5 while he recovers from the quad injury, which he sustained earlier this month. Once activated, McNichols could have a role on special teams for the Commanders, but he'll likely be in line for limited snaps on offense if all of Jacory Croskey-Merritt (lower body), Rachaad White (hamstring) and Kaytron Allen are healthy and available out of the backfield.

Jaleel McLaughlin RB | CLE
Jaleel McLaughlin: Time in Denver ends
The Broncos waived McLaughlin on Sunday, Aric DiLalla of the team's official site reports.
After serving in a depth capacity in the Denver backfield over the past three seasons and averaging an excellent 4.8 yards per carry over that stretch, McLaughiln re-upped with the Broncos on a one-year, $1.43 million deal in March but was still forced to battle for a roster spot heading into training camp and the preseason. A lack of utility on special teams appears to have cost McLaughlin a job, with Denver opting to keep Tyler Badie over him as its No. 4 running back behind J.K. Dobbins, RJ Harvey and Jonah Coleman.

Michael Carter RB | TEN
Michael Carter: Cut loose by Tennessee
The Titans released Carter on Sunday, Jim Wyatt of the team's official site reports.
Carter saw ample playing time down the stretch last regular season for the Cardinals, finishing with 333 rushing yards and a touchdown on 92 carries (3.6 average) to go with a 33-267-0 line on 45 targets over 13 games. Even so, Carter didn't have a robust market in free agency this offseason and joined the Titans on a modest one-year deal in April. He was forced to compete for a job throughout training camp and the preseason and fell short in his battle for a roster spot, with Tennessee opting to keep four other running backs (Tony Pollard, Tyjae Spears, Nicholas Singleton and Julius Chestnut) over him.

Trey Dean: Waived with injury designation
Dean (undisclosed) was waived/injured by the Packers on Sunday, Wes Hodkiewicz of the team's official website reports.

The safety will now be placed on waivers, and if he goes unclaimed, he'll revert to season-ending injured reserve with the Packers. At that point, he'd need to reach an injury settlement with the team in order to have a chance to play in 2026.
-
Michael Niese G | DET

The linebacker will now be placed on waivers, and if he goes unclaimed, he'll revert to season-ending injured reserve with Denver. At that point, he'd have to reach an injury settlement with the team in order to possibly play in 2026.

If that is the case, Manning would have to reach an injury settlement with the Bears to have a chance to play during the 2026 campaign.
