Kittle (Achilles) is expected to practice this week as he continues his push to play in the 49ers' season opener against the Rams in Australia, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.

With Kittle having been activated from the active/PUP list last Sunday and reportedly avoiding setbacks in his recovery from a torn Achilles, he appears to be trending in the right direction for Week 1. His practice workload this week should offer the clearest indication yet of whether San Francisco's starting tight end will be ready for the opener. Should Kittle indeed be able to suit up versus the Rams, it would mean he'd return to game action almost exactly eight months after he tore his Achilles on Jan. 11 in a wild-card win over Philadelphia.

Roberts was released by Pittsburgh on Sunday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.

Roberts has appeared in 157 regular season games during his career, making stops in New England, Miami, Pittsburgh and Las Vegas, totaling 694 tackles, 14.5 sacks and five forced fumbles. He recently agreed to a one-year deal to return to the Steelers. Instead, he is now free to test the market in search of a new team.

Dexter (hamstring) was traded to the Falcons from the Bears on Sunday, NFL Insider's Jordan Schultz reports.

Despite drawing interest from a few teams, Dexter will head to Atlanta in exchange for Clark Phillips and a fifth-round pick. The 25-year-old Dexter has appeared in 49 regular-season games for the Bears throughout his career, totaling 115 tackles and 13.5 sacks. Dexter has been battling a hamstring injury suffered during a recent practice, so his Week 1 status is in limbo.

Long has been traded from Jacksonville to the Cardinals, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.

Long will get a fresh start after spending 2025 in a depth role for Jacksonville. After being selected by Miami in the third round of the 2021 NFL Draft, Long has been used primarily as a blocker, though he did log career highs with 12 catches, 85 yards and two touchdowns over nine regular-season contests with the Jaguars last year. Trey McBride is the clear-cut top dog at tight end for Arizona, so Long doesn't figure to have a major offensive role with his new club.

Browning has been cut by Tampa Bay, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.

After signing with Tampa Bay in March, Browning had been expected to back up Baker Mayfield and recently returned to practice after a back injury. Browning had a quiet preseason, completing 10 of 15 passes for 86 yards with no touchdowns or interceptions. Browning's release means Tampa Bay will move forward with undrafted rookie Jalon Daniels as the team's No. 2 QB behind Mayfield.

Daniels is moving forward as Tampa Bay's backup quarterback behind Baker Mayfield after impressing throughout training camp, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.

After entering camp as an undrafted rookie in a crowded quarterback room, Daniels appears to have climbed into the No. 2 role behind Mayfield. The decision gives him clear roster security and places him next in line if Tampa Bay needs a backup to step into game action. Daniels won the job after a strong preseason during which he completed 27 of 44 passes for 239 yards and a touchdown without being picked off.

Allen was arrested early Sunday morning and charged with DUI, FOX59 reports.

Per the report, Allen was arrested overnight in Indianapolis "on preliminary charges of (DWI) and DWI endangering a person." The Colts, via Kevin Bowen of 107.5 The Fan, issued a statement saying, "We are aware of the incident involving Allen last night. We are in the process of gathering more information and have no further comment at this time."

The Rams waived Villari on Saturday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.

Villari joined Los Angeles as an undrafted free agent in late April and played in all three of the team's preseason games, catching one of two targets for 24 yards. The Syracuse product has intriguing versatility, as he logged some time as a quarterback and also was used often as a rusher during college. Villari is a candidate to settle in with the Rams' practice squad if he goes through waivers unclaimed.

The Rams waived Jones on Saturday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.

Jones signed with Los Angeles as an undrafted free agent in late April and stuck with the organization throughout the preseason. However, the Rams have a crowded tight-end room, so Jones was never expected to make the roster cut.

The Rams waived Edwards on Saturday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.

Edwards spent all of last season on Los Angeles' practice squad and signed a reserve/future contract with the organization in late January. He appeared in all three of the team's preseason contests, catching six of eight targets for 48 yards. Edwards won't make the team's initial 53-man roster, but he's a candidate to return to the practice squad if he goes unclaimed on waivers.
