  • Byron Cowart DT | WAS

Byron Cowart: Let go from injured reserve

The Jets waived Cowart (ankle) from injured reserve Tuesday, Rich Cimini of ESPN.com reports.

Cowart opened the regular season on injured reserve due to an ankle injury that he sustained in early August during training camp. He was competing for a starting spot on the Jets' defensive line, but the 2019 fifth-rounder has been let go by the team before having the opportunity to return to practice. It's unclear where Cowart is in his recovery from his injury, but once fully healthy, he would be in position to join a team in need of interior depth on the defensive line.

  • Kaden Prather: Works out for Atlanta

The Falcons worked out Prather (undisclosed) on Tuesday, Marc Raimondi of ESPN.com reports.

Prather was selected in the seventh round of this year's NFL Draft by the Bills but battled a hamstring injury for most of training camp and the preseason, and was eventually cut ahead of Week 1. Now healthy, Prather will try to find work elsewhere.

  • Kerby Joseph SAF | DET

Lions' Kerby Joseph: Intends to return in 2025

Joseph has been sidelined since Week 6 due to a knee injury, but the fourth-year safety intends to return in 2025 and seek treatment for his injury during the offseason, NFL reporter Jordan Schultz reports.

Joseph has not been placed on the Lions' injured reserve despite the prolonged absence. He returned to practice as a limited participant Monday -- his first action since the injury -- but did not participate in Tuesday's session. Joseph faces an uphill battle to be cleared to play against the Cowboys on Thursday, but with more practices under his belt, he could be available for the Lions' Week 15 road tilt against the Rams on Sunday, Dec. 14.

  • Ian Wheeler RB | BUF

Ian Wheeler: Cut from practice squad

The Saints cut Wheeler from the practice squad Tuesday.

Wheeler was signed to the practice squad last week. He's never appeared in a regular-season NFL contest.

  • Kevin Austin: Cut by New Orleans

The Saints waived Austin on Tuesday.

Austin has appeared in three games for New Orleans this season but failed to catch his lone target across 37 offensive snaps. He could be a candidate to return to the practice squad if he clears waivers.

  • Penei Sewell OT | DET

Lions' Penei Sewell: Nursing shoulder injury

Sewell (shoulder) did not participate at practice Tuesday.

Just as Sewell was overcoming the ankle issue that was nagging him over the past few weeks, he became a surprise addition to Detroit's injury report with a shoulder problem. He'll probably need to practice in some capacity Wednesday to have a chance to play Thursday versus the Cowboys.

  • Shane Zylstra TE | BUF

Lions' Shane Zylstra: Downgrades to DNP on Tuesday

Zylstra (knee) did not participate at practice Tuesday.

It's a somewhat concerning sign for Zylstra, who Detroit just designated for return to practice from its injured reserve list Monday. It's looking increasingly unlikely he'll be able to suit up Thursday versus the Cowboys.

  • Montrell Johnson: Cut from practice squad

The Cardinals cut Johnson from the practice squad Tuesday, Darren Urban of the team's official site reports.

Johnson caught on with the Cardinals' practice squad this past Wednesday after being without a team for nearly three months. His stint with Arizona will end up lasting less than a week after he was let go from the practice squad, and he'll look to catch on with a team in need of backfield depth. The undrafted rookie has yet to appear in an NFL regular-season game.

  • Julian Okwara DE | CLE

Julian Okwara: Sent to practice-squad IR

The Browns placed Okwara (undisclosed) on the practice squad injured list Tuesday.

Okwara will not be eligible to play until Week 18. The 27-year-old hasn't appeared in a regular-season game this season after logging 18 tackles (10 solo), including 1.0 sacks, across 13 games for the Cardinals in 2024.

  • Sione Vaki RB | DET

Lions' Sione Vaki: Still limited at practice Tuesday

Vaki (thumb) was a limited participant at practice Tuesday.

Vaki popped up on Detroit's injury report Monday with a thumb issue, and he's still tending to that as the team's preparations for Week 14 continue. If he can't upgrade to full participation at practice Wednesday, he'll likely carry an injury designation into game day.
