Bonino signed a one-year contract with HK Olimpija Ljubljana of the ICEHL on Saturday, Seth Rorabaugh of Tribune-Review Sports reports. Bonino had a goal and four assists in 45 regular-season games with the Rangers in 2023-24 before being placed on unconditional waivers in early February. He didn't get a PTO with any NHL team ahead of the 2024-25 campaign and will head to Europe.

The Rangers put Bonino on unconditional waivers Tuesday for the purpose of contract termination, Chris Johnston of The Athletic reports. Bonino will become an unrestricted free agent once the process is complete. He produced one goal, four assists, 31 shots on net and 78 blocked shots in 45 appearances for New York this season. The 35-year-old forward was waived by the Rangers on Jan. 25 before being sent down to AHL Hartford.

Bonino was reassigned to AHL Hartford on Friday after passing through waivers. The veteran won't report to the Wolf Pack until after the NHL All-Star break, Vince Z. Mercogliano of USA Today reports. Bonino had a planned family vacation during the upcoming break, so the Rangers have decided to honor that and allow him to wait until afterward to report to Hartford. The two-time Stanley Cup champion hasn't played in an AHL game since 2011-12 when he was with the Syracuse Crunch. While it's no doubt a tough pill to swallow for the 35-year-old, he should be atop the shortlist of potential call-ups should the need arise in New York.

The Rangers placed Bonino on waivers Thursday, Dan Rosen of NHL.com reports. General manager Chris Drury met with Bonino on Thursday morning to notify the forward of the team's decision. The Rangers are not sure what Bonino's next move will be should he clear waivers. The 35-year-old has only a goal and four assists in 45 NHL games this season.

Per Vince Z. Mercogliano of USA Today, Bonino (personal) will miss Friday's tilt versus Vegas. Bonino has gone 14 games without a point -- the fourth-line center has a goal and five points in 45 games overall this year. With Bonino out, look for Jake Leschyshyn to get into the lineup against the Golden Knights after he was recalled from AHL Hartford on Wednesday.
