Beaulieu inked a one-year contract with Barys of the KHL on Friday. Beaulieu played 13 games with Kloten HC of the Swiss League in 2023-24, picking up two assists. The 31-year-old spent parts of 11 seasons in the NHL with Montreal, Buffalo, Winnipeg and Anaheim, scoring 12 goals and adding 86 assists in 471 regular-season games.

Beaulieu signed a one-year contract with Kloten of Switzerland's National League on Wednesday. Beaulieu had four assists and 39 PIM in 52 contests with Anaheim last season. He joined the Hurricanes' training camp this year on a professional tryout, but he was released Oct. 6 without securing a contract.

Beaulieu agreed to a professional tryout agreement with Carolina on Monday. Beaulieu contributed four assists, 33 shots on goal, 80 blocked shots and 49 hits in 52 appearances with Anaheim last season. It will be a difficult task for him to crack Carolina's crowded blue line out of training camp. Still, an impressive showing for Beaulieu could land him a contract with the Hurricanes as a depth option or with a different team.

Beaulieu has gone 26 games without a point. Beaulieu's place in the lineup has stabilized as injuries have piled up throughout the year, but he's rarely contributed on offense. His last point was an assist versus the Sabres on Jan. 21. The 30-year-old defenseman is at four assists, a minus-24 rating, 33 shots on net, 46 hits, 76 blocked shots and 37 PIM while logging bottom-four minutes.
