Andersen will not take part in training camp due to an undisclosed injury suffered during the offseason, the Oilers announced Wednesday. Per Ryan Rishaug of TSN, Andersen could be out until late October. Andersen looked poised to enter the 2026-27 season as the No. 1 option in Edmonton, but his absence from training camp could open the door for both Tristan Jarry and Devon Levi. Considering the 36-year-old Andersen hasn't appeared in more than 35 regular-season games since the 2021-22 campaign, he was unlikely to be a top goaltender option even if healthy. This injury could further impact his fantasy value.

Andersen signed a one-year, $1 million contract with the Oilers on Wednesday, per PuckPedia. The deal's value could increase to $2.8 million with performance bonuses. Andersen can earn up to $1 million in bonuses for games played, and an additional $200,000 per playoff round the Oilers win in which he plays at least half of the games. It's a worthy gamble for the Oilers, who will get a Stanley Cup-winning goalie on the roster to pair with Tristan Jarry, as well as a quality depth option in Devon Levi. Given the various question marks with all three netminders, it wouldn't be surprising for Edmonton to carry all three throughout the season.

Andersen stopped 12 of 16 shots over two periods in Saturday's 5-4 double-overtime loss to the Golden Knights in Game 3 of the Stanley Cup Finals. Andersen gave up all four goals in the last half of the second period. Brandon Bussi took over in goal to begin the third, and he allowed just one goal on 19 shots, which came in the second overtime. Andersen's magic from earlier in the postseason might be running out -- he's allowed 12 goals on 65 shots over three games versus Vegas. Overall, he has gone 13-2 with a 1.89 GAA and a .910 save percentage over 16 playoff outings. Given the trend of his performance, it's no guarantee Andersen gets the nod for Game 4 on Tuesday.

Andersen is slated to guard the road goal versus the Golden Knights in Game 3 of the Stanley Cup Finals on Saturday. Andersen looks set to continue his run as the Hurricanes' starter after helping the team to a comeback win in Game 2. He stopped 23 of 26 shots in Game 2 and has won five of his last six outings. Andersen has allowed eight goals on 49 shots over two contests against the Golden Knights, but he showed an ability to lock in later in the Eastern Conference Finals versus the Canadiens and will try to do that again.

Andersen stopped 23 of 26 shots in Thursday's 4-3 overtime win over the Golden Knights in Game 2 of the Stanley Cup Finals. Andersen and the Hurricanes looked to be in trouble when they trailed 2-0 after two periods. The Hurricanes responded with three goals in a 5:05 span during the third, though Mark Stone was able to answer to force overtime, where Seth Jarvis won it for Carolina. Andersen has allowed eight goals on 49 shots over the first two games of this series as the Golden Knights look to be the toughest test the Hurricanes have seen in the playoffs. It won't get any easier as the series shifts to Vegas for the next two contests. Andersen is 13-2 with a 1.72 GAA and a .917 save percentage over 15 outings this postseason.
