Georgiev stopped 29 of 33 shots in Tuesday's 4-3 loss to the Jets. The Sharks took a 3-2 lead early in the third period, but Georgiev couldn't make it last. He's now 1-1-0 with seven goals allowed on 53 shots over two starts with the Sharks since he was traded from the Avalanche. He hasn't experienced the full brunt of a defensive meltdown yet, but the results could get ugly if the team in front of him starts leaking shots at a high volume. Georgiev is now 9-8-0 with a 3.40 GAA and an .873 save percentage over 20 outings this season. He could be in line to start against his former team Thursday when the Sharks host the Avalanche -- Vitek Vanecek (head) was hurt on the bench Tuesday and may not be available for the next game.

Georgiev will be in net for Tuesday's home matchup against the Jets, per Curtis Pashelka of The San Jose Mercury News. Georgiev won his first start with San Jose, turning aside 17 of 20 shots in a 4-3 win over the Blues on Dec. 12. Winnipeg has scored 14 goals over its last three games, going 2-0-1 in that span. The Jets rank third in the NHL with 3.66 goals per game.

Georgiev stopped 17 of 20 shots in Thursday's 4-3 win over the Blues. Georgiev was acquired in a trade from the Avalanche on Monday, and he registered a road win Thursday in his first appearance with San Jose. The 28-year-old has won his last two starts (one with Colorado), and he'll certainly have a chance to be the Sharks' No. 1 netminder -- Yaroslav Askarov is in the minors and Vitek Vanecek has struggled through the early portion of the 2024-25 campaign. Georgiev is up to a 9-7-0 record, .873 save percentage and 3.36 GAA through 19 total appearances.

Georgiev will defend the road crease during Thursday's game against St. Louis, Sheng Peng of San Jose Hockey Now reports. Georgiev was traded from the Avalanche to the Sharks on Monday, and he'll make his first appearance in his new uniform on the road Thursday. Over 18 starts with Colorado to begin the year, he went 8-7-0 with a 3.38 GAA and .874 save percentage.

San Jose acquired Georgiev, Nikolai Kovalenko, a 2026 second-round pick and a 2025 fifth-round selection from Colorado on Monday in exchange for Mackenzie Blackwood, Givani Smith and a 2027 fifth-round draft choice. Georgiev has posted a record of 8-7-0 with a 3.38 GAA and an .874 save percentage in 18 appearances this season. He is eligible for unrestricted free agency at the end of the 2024-25 campaign. If Georgiev continues to struggle with the Sharks, he could get pushed for playing time by Vitek Vanecek.
