  • Islanders' Mathew Barzal: Shifted to IR

Barzal (lower body) was placed on injured reserve Tuesday.

Barzal becomes the seventh member of the Islanders to land on injured reserve. The move shouldn't come as a surprise given the forward has been ruled out indefinitely. In typical Islanders fashion, the club hasn't given a clear update on when the 27-year-old British Columbia native might be ready to return to the lineup, but at a minimum, it won't be until after the 4 Nations Face-Off.

  • Stars' Mavrik Bourque: Not playing Tuesday

Bourque (face) won't play against Anaheim on Tuesday, per Stars radio analyst Bruce LeVine.

Bourque will miss at least one game after being injured in Sunday's 5-3 win over Columbus. He has generated six goals, 14 points and 52 shots in 47 appearances this season. Colin Blackwell will replace Bourque in Tuesday's lineup.

  • Logan Cooley C | UTA

Hockey Club's Logan Cooley: Lands on injured reserve

Cooley (lower body) was designated for injured reserve Tuesday, per the NHL media site.

Cooley has already been ruled out indefinitely, so it shouldn't come as a surprise to see him placed on IR. The club will use the extra roster spot to activate Dylan Guenther (lower body) ahead of Tuesday's clash with Philadelphia. The 20-year-old Cooley is just one point from matching his rookie total of 44 from the 2023-24 campaign.

  • Bruins' Vinni Lettieri: Demoted to minors

Lettieri was sent down to AHL Providence on Tuesday, Conor Ryan of The Boston Globe reports.

Lettieri has appeared in eight NHL games this season, in which he notched two goals, 12 shots and 19 hits while averaging 12:05 of ice time. With Mark Kastelic back from injured reserve, the 29-year-old Lettieri was the odd man out among the Bruins' forward group.

  • Predators' Vinnie Hinostroza: Lands on waivers

Hinostroza was placed on waivers Tuesday, Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet reports.

Hinostroza provided two helpers over 13 appearances with the Predators this season. If he passes through the waiver wire, the right-shot forward will report to AHL Milwaukee.

  • Sharks' Ty Dellandrea: Not ready to return

Dellandrea (upper body) won't play against Montreal on Tuesday, Sheng Peng of San Jose Hockey Now reports.

Dellandrea will miss his fourth straight game. However, he is close to returning to the lineup, and his next chance to play will be Thursday against Vancouver. Dellandrea has one goal, four assists, 27 shots on net, 29 blocked shots and 99 hits through 41 appearances this season.

  • Canucks' Linus Karlsson: Brought up from AHL

Karlsson was recalled from AHL Abbotsford on Tuesday.

Karlsson was shipped down to Abbotsford on Monday, but he's back with the big club in short order. The Swedish center will most likely fill a fourth-line role in Tuesday's game against Colorado. The 25-year-old has just one goal over eight appearances with Vancouver this season.

  • Predators' Vinnie Hinostroza: Contributes helper Monday

Hinostroza notched an assist and two hits in Monday's 5-2 loss to the Senators.

Hinostroza has slipped into a part-time role after playing for much of January. Luke Evangelista (lower body) is hurt again, which gives Hinostroza another chance to fill a second-line role at even strength, though the latter has yet to do much with the opportunity. For the season, the 30-year-old winger is at two assists, 11 shots on net, 13 hits and six PIM over 13 appearances. Hinostroza has exhausted his waivers exemption by playing in more than 10 games since the last time he cleared waivers, so he could have a little more security for staying with the big club as long as the Predators have injuries to forwards.

  • Predators' Jonathan Marchessault: Deposits goal in loss

Marchessault scored a goal on three shots and blocked two shots in Monday's 5-2 loss to the Senators.

Marchessault had a 10-game point streak from Dec. 31 to Nov. 23, but he followed it up with a four-game slump, during which he went minus-7. The 34-year-old winger is now at 16 goals, 39 points, 161 shots on net, 62 hits, 31 PIM and a minus-15 rating over 52 appearances. Marchessault has been a top-six fixture this season, but he'll have to find a steadier pace to get to the 60-point mark for the third time in four years.

  • Senators' Matthew Highmore: Records assist Monday

Highmore registered an assist in Monday's 5-2 win over the Predators.

Highmore has three helpers over his last eight contests. The 28-year-old has a chance to stick in the lineup in a bottom-six role since Nick Cousins (knee), Noah Gregor (lower body) and Josh Norris (undisclosed) are all out. Highmore shouldn't be expected to do much with limited minutes, but he's already at four points, 16 shots on net and 11 hits across 13 outings this season.
