  • Lightning's Zemgus Girgensons: Exits with apparent injury

Girgensons sustained an apparent injury late in the third period of Sunday's 4-2 loss to the Panthers, Gabby Shirley of FanDuel Sports Network Florida & Sun reports.

The nature and severity of Girgensons' injury aren't yet clear, but he had trouble skating to the bench after getting hurt late in the matchup. Prior to his exit, he tallied two hits and a blocked shot in 12:12 of ice time. Whether the 30-year-old will be available for the second half of the back-to-back set Monday against Florida remains to be seen.

  • Oilers' Ryan Nugent-Hopkins: Dealing with illness

Nugent-Hopkins, who has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Senators, is dealing with an illness, Bob Stauffer of the Oilers Radio Network reports.

Nugent-Hopkins was a late scratch for Sunday's matchup after he wasn't on the ice for pregame warmups, but the Oilers didn't initially disclose the reason for his absence. He's dealing with an illness, but it wouldn't be surprising to see him back in action in the near future since he'll have nearly a week to recover before Edmonton's next game, Saturday against the Kings.

  • Senators' Michael Amadio: Ruled out against Edmonton

Amadio has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Oilers due to an apparent head injury, TSN 1200 Ottawa reports.

Amadio appeared to suffer a head injury Saturday against Vancouver when he went hard into the boards, and he'll be sidelined for the second half of the back-to-back set. Cole Reinhardt will take his place in the lineup, while Amadio will have nearly a week to recover before the Senators face Winnipeg on Saturday.

  • Oilers' Ryan Nugent-Hopkins: Won't play Sunday

Nugent-Hopkins wasn't on the ice for warmups ahead of Sunday's game against Ottawa, Tony Brar of Oilers TV reports, signaling that he won't suit up for an undisclosed reason.

Nugent-Hopkins had appeared in the Oilers' first 33 games of the season, racking up six goals, 12 assists, 16 blocked shots, 13 hits and 10 PIM while averaging 19:20 of ice time. It's unclear whether the 31-year-old is dealing with an injury that is preventing him from suiting up, but Derek Ryan will enter the lineup Sunday.

  • Matt Rempe C | NYR

Rangers' Matt Rempe: Receives eight-game suspension

Rempe was suspended for eight games by the NHL Department of Player Safety on Sunday for boarding and elbowing Dallas' Miro Heiskanen on Friday.

Rempe was ejected from Friday's 3-1 win over the Stars and received a five-minute major for elbowing on the play. He is considered a repeat offender and will forfeit $80,000 in salary during his suspension. The 22-year-old forward won't be eligible to return until Jan. 9 against New Jersey. Jimmy Vesey and Jonny Brodzinski could play on the fourth line during Rempe's absence.

  • Kings' Phillip Danault: Not playing Sunday

Danault (undisclosed) won't play versus Washington on Sunday, Zach Dooley of the Kings' official site reports.

Danault will miss at least one game after registering an assist in 18:36 of ice time in Saturday's 3-2 overtime loss to Nashville. He has three goals, 17 points, 52 shots on net, 29 blocked shots and 31 hits through 33 appearances this season. Andre Lee will replace Danault in Sunday's lineup.

  • Panthers' Rasmus Asplund: Called up Sunday

Asplund was recalled from AHL Charlotte on Sunday.

With Jesper Boqvist (upper body) ruled out, Asplund will join the Panthers as a depth option ahead of Sunday's matchup with Tampa Bay. The 27-year-old Asplund last played in the NHL in 2022-23, when he was held scoreless in 19 games with Nashville.

  • Bruins' Charlie Coyle: Lights lamp Saturday

Coyle scored a goal on three shots and added two PIM in Saturday's 3-1 win over the Sabres.

This tally ended Coyle's eight-game goal drought, during which he had just one assist. The 32-year-old has mostly served as a third-line center in 2024-25, but he was moved up to right wing on the top line for Saturday's contest. Coyle has eight goals, two assists, 46 shots on net, 54 hits, 26 blocked shots and a minus-9 rating through 35 appearances. If he sticks in the top six, it could unlock more offense in his game.

  • Bruins' Morgan Geekie: Gets game-winner on power play

Geekie scored a power-play goal on two shots and added four hits in Saturday's 3-1 win over the Sabres.

Geekie's goal at 18:15 of the third period gave the Bruins a late game-winner. He has three goals and an assist over his last four contests. For the season, the 26-year-old forward is at seven goals, 13 points (three on the power play), 59 shots on net, 45 hits and a minus-7 rating over 30 appearances. Geekie's worth a look in fantasy as long as he remains in the Bruins' top six.

  • Canadiens' Christian Dvorak: Generates helper in win

Dvorak recorded an assist and went plus-2 in Saturday's 5-1 win over the Red Wings.

Dvorak has picked up three helpers over his last four games. That's a strong run of offense for a third-liner who typically takes more of a defensive approach. He's at 11 points, 43 shots on net, 37 blocked shots and a minus-6 rating through 33 outings this season.
