  • Lightning's Andrei Vasilevskiy: First off Saturday

Vasilevskiy was the first goalie off the ice at the morning skate, according to Eduardo A. Encina of the Tampa Bay Times, indicating he will guard the road goal against Florida on Saturday.

Vasilevskiy has won his last two outings while stopping 41 of 46 shots. He has a 13-7-2 record this campaign with one shutout, a 2.32 GAA and a .913 save percentage through 22 appearances this season. Florida is tied for ninth in the league with 3.19 goals per game this season.

  • Rangers' Igor Shesterkin: Tending twine Saturday

Shesterkin will defend the road net against the Islanders on Saturday, Andrew Gross of Newsday reports.

Shesterkin has won his past three outings while allowing only eight goals on 91 shots. He has a 16-11-3 record this season with one shutout, a 2.55 GAA and a .908 save percentage across 30 appearances. Shesterkin allowed four goals on 25 shots in a 5-0 loss to the Islanders on Nov. 8, with the fourth goal being an empty-netter.

  • Panthers' Sergei Bobrovsky: Facing Lightning

Bobrovsky will patrol the home crease against Tampa Bay on Saturday, Jameson Olive of the Panthers' official site reports.

Bobrovsky has won his last six outings while stopping 136 of the 152 shots he has faced. He has a 16-8-1 record this season with three shutouts, a 2.78 GAA and an .889 save percentage through 25 appearances. Tampa Bay is tied for sixth in the league with 3.25 goals per game this campaign.

  • Jets' Connor Hellebuyck: Set to start Saturday

Hellebuyck is slated to protect the home net against Minnesota on Saturday, Ken Wiebe of The Winnipeg Free Press reports.

Hellebuyck has gone 0-2-2 in his last four outings while allowing 11 goals on 105 shots. He has a 9-8-2 record this season with a 2.48 GAA and a .912 save percentage through 19 appearances. Minnesota sits 17th in the league with 3.00 goals per game this year.

  • Islanders' David Rittich: Starting Saturday

Rittich will be between the home pipes versus the Rangers on Saturday, according to Stefen Rosner of NHL.com.

The Islanders placed Ilya Sorokin (lower body) on injured reserve and recalled Marcus Hogberg for Saturday's tilt. Rittich has been terrific as the Islanders' backup goaltender this season, posting an 8-3-2 record with a 2.42 GAA and a .913 save percentage. The Rangers are generating 2.62 goals per game, 28th in the NHL this season.

  • Ilya Sorokin G | NYI

Islanders' Ilya Sorokin: Placed on injured reserve

Sorokin (lower body) was placed on injured reserve Saturday, retroactive to Dec. 20.

Sorokin will miss his second consecutive game when the Islanders host the Rangers on Saturday and won't be available for Sunday's road matchup against the Blue Jackets. There is a chance he could return when the team visits Chicago on Tuesday, according to Andrew Gross of Newsday. Sorokin is 12-10-2 with three shutouts, a 2.55 GAA and a .910 save percentage across 24 appearances this season.

  • Islanders' Marcus Hogberg: Recalled from AHL

Hogberg was summoned from AHL Bridgeport on Saturday, Stefen Rosner of NHL.com reports.

Hogberg's recall to the NHL roster doesn't bode well for the availability of Ilya Sorokin (lower body) for Saturday's home matchup against the Rangers. As a result, David Rittich will likely get the start. Hogberg was 5-7-2 with a 3.08 GAA and an .881 save percentage across 14 AHL games before his recall.

  • Senators' Linus Ullmark: Takes OT loss against former club

Ullmark turned aside 22 shots in Tuesday's 3-2 overtime loss to the Sabres.

Facing the team he made his NHL debut with in 2015-16, the veteran netminder couldn't find his way into the win column, but he still delivered a strong performance. Ullmark has gone five straight starts without taking a regulation loss, going 4-0-1 during that stretch with a dazzling 1.99 GAA and .918 save percentage.

  • Alex Lyon G | BUF

Sabres' Alex Lyon: Nabs sixth straight win

Lyon stopped 24 shots in Tuesday's 3-2 overtime win over the Senators.

The veteran netminder held Ottawa off the board in the third period and OT to secure his sixth straight win. Lyon has re-claimed the top spot in the Buffalo crease with the hot streak, and through seven outings in December he's posted a stellar 2.14 GAA and .924 save percentage to go along with his pristine 6-0-0 record.

  • Hurricanes' Frederik Andersen: Late collapse against Florida

Andersen made 17 saves in Tuesday's 5-2 loss to the Panthers.

Carolina held a 2-0 lead heading into the third period, but a Niko Mikkola point shot deflected past Andersen early in the final frame, and that seemed to open the floodgates. The veteran netminder was seeing his first action since Dec. 4, and while Tuesday's result had a lot more to do with ragged play by the Hurricanes defense, it won't encourage coach Rod Brind'Amour to work Andersen into his three-headed goalie rotation more frequently. Anderson's gone seven straight starts without a win dating back to Nov. 11, stumbling to an 0-5-2 record over that stretch with a 3.64 GAA and .834 save percentage.
