Akira Schmid G | LV
Golden Knights' Akira Schmid: Set to start Thursday
Schmid is expected to start at home against Boston on Thursday, per Danny Webster of the Las Vegas Review-Journal.
Schmid has a 2-0-0 record, 1.80 GAA and .929 save percentage in two appearances this year. Head coach Bruce Cassidy said this was a scheduled start for Schmid, so his assignment presumably doesn't have anything to do with Adin Hill's lower-body injury. It's still possible that Hill will serve as the backup goaltender Thursday. If Hill can't, then Vegas will need to recall a netminder from AHL Henderson.

Arturs Silovs G | PIT
Penguins' Arturs Silovs: First off ice Thursday
Silovs was the first goaltender off the ice at morning skate and is expected to defend the visiting crease in Los Angeles on Thursday, according to Matt Vensel of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.
Silovs looked solid Opening Night as he stopped all 25 shots in a 3-0 win over the Rangers, but he struggled at home Saturday against the same Rangers, allowing six goals on 30 shots. Silovs will face the Kings, who are averaging 2.75 goals per game this year, which ranks 23rd in the NHL.

Lukas Dostal G | ANA
Ducks' Lukas Dostal: Starting Thursday
Dostal will guard the home goal versus Carolina on Thursday, Derek Lee of The Hockey News reports.
Dostal is 1-1-0 over his first two appearances of the year, allowing six goals on 56 shots. He established himself over the last two seasons and is currently Anaheim's No. 1 netminder. Dostal will face the Hurricanes, who have tallied 15 goals in three games this season.

Carter Hart G | LV
Golden Knights' Carter Hart: Signs with Vegas
Hart signed a contract with the Golden Knights on Thursday.
Hart was eligible to sign a contract with an NHL club as early as Wednesday as part of an agreement with the league after he was acquitted of sexual assault charges in the Hockey Canada trial. Hart won't be eligible to suit up for the Golden Knights until Dec. 1 due to disciplinary measures from the league. He's with the organization on a tryout and is expected to begin working with AHL Henderson, and he'll be eligible to begin practicing with the Golden Knights on Nov. 15. Adin Hill sustained a lower-body injury in the first period of Tuesday's game against the Flames, and Vegas has Akira Schmid as a backup and Carl Lindbom in the AHL if Hill misses time. Once Hart is able to make his team debut, he'll likely have a chance to push for playing time, assuming Hill is healthy.

Scott Wedgewood G | COL
Avalanche's Scott Wedgewood: Gets starting nod Thursday
Wedgewood will guard the road goal in Columbus on Thursday, Mark Scheig of The Hockey Writers reports.
This will be Wedgewood's fifth straight start, as Mackenzie Blackwood (lower body) has yet to play and is currently on a conditioning stint with AHL Colorado. Wedgewood has had a strong start to the season, posting a 3-0-1 mark with a 1.71 GAA and a .935 save percentage. He certainly has helped his cause to play more in 2025-26 after he made only 24 regular-season appearances last year. The Blue Jackets have scored 10 goals in three games, including seven against the Wild on Saturday.

Linus Ullmark G | OTT
Senators' Linus Ullmark: Starting against Seattle
Ullmark will start Thursday's home game against the Kraken on Thursday, TSN 1200 Ottawa reports.
Ullmark got the night off against the Sabres on Wednesday, but he'll return to the net for the second half of the back-to-back set. He started the Senators' first three games of the season, going 1-2-0 with a 4.07 GAA and .842 save percentage.

Juuse Saros G | NSH
Predators' Juuse Saros: Starting in Montreal
Saros will defend the road goal in Montreal on Thursday, Renaud Lavoie of TVA Sports reports.
Saros is off to a very good start as he is 2-0-1, allowing five goals on 94 shots. It's a huge improvement over last season when he had a 2.98 GAA and an .895 save percentage across 58 appearances. The Canadiens have been a scoring machine in the early going of the 2025-26 season, potting 15 goals in only four games.
-
Casey DeSmith G | DAL
Stars' Casey DeSmith: Set to start Thursday
DeSmith was the first goalie off during Thursday's morning skate, Lia Assimakopoulos of The Dallas Morning News reports, indicating that he'll draw the home start against the Canucks.
DeSmith will make his season debut Thursday after Jake Oettinger was in net for the Stars' first three games of the year. DeSmith made 27 regular-season appearances for Dallas during the 2024-25 campaign, going 14-8-2 with a 2.59 GAA and .915 save percentage.
-
Philipp Grubauer G | SEA
Kraken's Philipp Grubauer: Expected to start Thursday
Grubauer is expected to start Thursday's road game against Ottawa, Geoff Baker of the Kraken's official site reports.
Joey Daccord started Seattle's first three games of the season, but it appears as though he'll get the night off Thursday after the Kraken's last two matchups went to overtime. Grubauer made 26 regular-season appearances for Seattle last year, going 8-17-1 with a 3.49 GAA and .875 save percentage.

Jake Allen G | NJ
Devils' Jake Allen: First goalie off Thursday
Allen (cramping) was the first goalie off during Thursday's morning skate, Mike Morreale of NHL.com reports, indicating that he'll draw the home start against Florida.
Although Nico Daws was in the starter's crease during Thursday's morning skate, it appears likely that Allen will draw the start. Allen exited Monday's matchup against the Blue Jackets after two stanzas due to cramping, but it doesn't seem as though the issue will force him to miss additional time. Prior to exiting Monday's game, he turned aside 23 of 24 shots (.958 save percentage).
