  • Hockey Club's Karel Vejmelka: Tagged with OT loss

Vejmelka stopped 30 of 32 shots in Friday's 2-1 overtime loss to the Panthers.

Vejmelka had a tough matchup against one of the top teams in the league, but all things considered, he fared well despite being tagged with yet another defeat. Counting both regulation and overtime losses, this was the third straight defeat for Vejmelka, who has posted a 3.92 GAA and a subpar .825 save percentage over that three-game stretch.

Skinner (head) won't be in the lineup for Saturday's home game against Calgary and could be out for a about of week, Tony Brar of Oilers TV reports.

Skinner will miss his second straight game versus the Flames, and even though he is day-to-day, his return won't be immediate. He has posted a 24-18-4 record with two shutouts, a 2.91 GAA and an .894 save percentage through 49 appearances this season. Calvin Pickard will see most of the starts while Skinner is unavailable, and Olivier Rodrigue will be the backup netminder.

  • Oilers' Calvin Pickard: Guarding goal Saturday

Pickard will defend the home goal versus Calgary on Saturday, according to Tony Brar of Oilers TV.

Pickard is currently the No. 1 goaltender in Edmonton as Stuart Skinner is out of action with a head injury. Pickard struggled Thursday, allowing five goals on 29 shots in a 6-1 loss to Seattle. Overall, the 32-year-old netminder is 17-8-1 with a 2.75 GAA and an .898 save percentage over 29 appearances this season. Calgary has posted 2.61 goals per game in 2024-25, 31st in the NHL.

  • Sabres' Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen: Starting Saturday

Luukkonen will patrol the visiting crease in Philadelphia on Saturday, Paul Hamilton of WGR Sports Radio 550 reports.

Luukkonen's first outing since March 22 against Minnesota will end a three-game starting streak for James Reimer. Luukkonen is 23-22-4 with a 3.16 GAA and an .888 save percentage across 51 appearances this season. The Flyers are registering 2.74 goals per game, 24th in the NHL in 2024-25.

  • Rangers' Igor Shesterkin: Fades late in overtime loss

Shesterkin stopped 28 of 33 shots in Friday's 5-4 overtime loss to the Ducks.

This isn't a good look -- the Rangers led 4-2 for much of the third period. Shesterkin wasn't able to fend off the comeback, which saw Cutter Gauthier and Olen Zellweger score in the third period before Mason McTavish completed the Ducks' comeback in overtime. Shesterkin has now tasted defeat in five of his last six outings, allowing 19 goals in that 1-4-1 span. The 29-year-old is at a 24-26-5 record with a 2.84 GAA and a .906 save percentage through 55 starts this season. He'll likely cede the crease to Jonathan Quick for Saturday's game in San Jose, but Shesterkin will need to turn things around Wednesday versus the Wild to bolster the Rangers' pursuit of a playoff spot.
