  • Ilya Sorokin G | NYI

    Islanders' Ilya Sorokin: Facing Oilers

Sorokin will defend the home crease versus Edmonton on Friday, according to Stefen Rosner of NHL.com.

Sorokin is 4-2-0 in his last six starts, allowing 15 goals on 193 shots (.922 save percentage). Overall, the 29-year-old netminder is 24-20-4 with three shutouts, a 2.77 GAA and a .905 save percentage. The Oilers could be fatigued after losing 3-2 in New Jersey on Thursday. Edmonton is generating 3.22 goals per game in 2024-25, ninth in the NHL.

  • Senators' Linus Ullmark: Revenge win against Boston

Ullmark made 22 saves in Thursday's 6-3 win over the Bruins.

Ottawa struck four times in the first period, chasing Jeremy Swayman from the game and giving Ullmark a big early cushion as he picked up a win against his former club. Ullmark has yet to take a regulation loss in March, going 5-0-1 with a 2.80 GAA and a .913 save percentage, and the surge has helped the Senators tighten their grip on a playoff berth -- they're five points up on the Blue Jackets and Rangers in the race for the first wild-card spot in the Eastern Conference.

  • Bruins' Joonas Korpisalo: Needed in relief in Ottawa

Korpisalo turned aside 15 of 16 shots after replacing Jeremy Swayman to begin the second period of Thursday's 6-3 loss to the Senators.

Puck luck went against Boston most of the night, and the goal against Korpisalo was no exception. A shot by Thomas Chabot from the blue line sailed past the Bruins' net but took a funny bounce off the end boards and came out on the opposite side than what Korpisalo anticipated, giving Drake Batherson a wide-open cage. The veteran goaltender has given up nine goals on 93 shots (.903 save percentage) over four appearances since the beginning of February, and with the Bruins trying to stay in the wild-card picture in the Eastern Conference, Korpisalo might see his workload increase if Swayman's struggles continue.

  • Bruins' Jeremy Swayman: Gets hook Thursday

Swayman stopped 11 of 15 shots before being replaced by Joonas Korpisalo to begin the second period of Thursday's 6-3 loss to the Senators.

The final two Ottawa goals against Swayman came just 22 seconds apart late in the opening frame, and while the netminder wasn't necessarily at fault for either, interim head coach Joe Sacco had seen enough. Swayman's had a rough time since the 4 Nations Face-Off, going 2-4-2 in eight starts with a 2.99 GAA and an .888 save percentage, and while Boston remains in the hunt for a wild-card spot, the team will need better play in its own end -- both in the crease and from its skaters -- if it's going to make the postseason.

  • Adin Hill G | LV

Golden Knights' Adin Hill: Secures six-year extension

Hill agreed to terms on a six-year, $37.5 million contract extension with Vegas on Friday.

Hill has featured in four of the Knights' first six contests in March and posted a 3-1-0 record and a 2.03 GAA, including a 27-save shutout of Columbus on Thursday. The 28-year-old netminder has already set new personal bests in games played (39), wins (24) and shutouts (four) this season and should be able to add to those totals heading into the final weeks of the campaign. With this extension, Hill figures to be the No. 1 option in Vegas for the foreseeable future -- especially with Ilya Samsonov set to hit free agency this summer.

  • Kings' Darcy Kuemper: Shuts out former team

Kuemper posted a 21-save shutout in Thursday's 3-0 win over the Capitals.

Kuemper picked up his third straight win, but this one had to feel a little sweeter coming against his former team. He had spent the previous two seasons with the Capitals, but a poor 2023-24 for Kuemper saw him swapped to the Kings for Pierre-Luc Dubois over the summer. It's largely been a win-win deal, but the Kings came out on top this time, with Kuemper earning his third shutout of the season. He's now 21-8-7 with a 2.23 GAA and a .916 save percentage over 37 appearances. Kuemper is likely to start again Saturday at home versus the Predators, though that is not yet confirmed.

  • Capitals' Charlie Lindgren: Gets no help in loss

Lindgren allowed three goals on 27 shots in Thursday's 3-0 loss to the Kings.

Lindgren gave up two goals in a span of 47 seconds early in the third period, and that proved too much for the Capitals to overcome. Prior to Thursday, the 31-year-old netminder had won four of his last five outings. He's now 15-11-3 with a 2.65 GAA and an .899 save percentage across 30 starts this season. If the Capitals continue on their goalie rotation, Logan Thompson would start the road-trip finale in San Jose on Saturday.

  • Blackhawks' Spencer Knight: Takes another loss

Knight stopped 21 of 24 shots in Thursday's 4-2 loss to the Sharks. The fourth goal was an empty-netter.

Knight dropped to 2-2-0 as a Blackhawk after losing a battle between bottom-dwelling teams in the league. The 23-year-old has largely played well to start his time with Chicago, but he'll have to steal most of his wins given the team in front of him. Overall, he's now 14-10-1 with a 2.38 GAA and a .911 save percentage over 27 outings between the Blackhawks and the Panthers. This was the first time he's started consecutive games with his new team, though Arvid Soderblom has also done a decent job this year and won't be pushed out of the goaltending equation altogether. The Blackhawks wrap up this four-game road trip in Vancouver on Saturday.

  • Sharks' Alexandar Georgiev: Makes 24 saves in win

Georgiev stopped 24 of 26 shots in Thursday's 4-2 win over the Blackhawks.

Georgiev ended a three-game losing streak with this performance. He limited the Blackhawks to goals by Frank Nazar and Ilya Mikheyev in the second period, and Georgiev was able to nurse a one-goal lead for much of the third before Tyler Toffoli's empty-netter sealed the win. Georgiev is up to 13-22-1 with a 3.59 GAA and an .876 save percentage over 40 appearances this season. He'll be tested heavily if he gets the start Saturday at home versus the Capitals.

  • Lightning's Jonas Johansson: Struggles continue

Johansson made 26 saves through overtime and three saves in the shootout in a 4-3 SO loss to Philadelphia.

Bobby Brink was his kryptonite -- the young Flyer had two goals. And the Bolts had a defensive breakdown on the Flyers' third goal that left Johansson swimming. The netminder continues to struggle this season. He's 3-4-1 in his last eight starts and 7-5-2 overall. His 3.12 GAA and .896 save percentage are uninspiring. Johansson isn't a reliable fantasy option.
