  • Jake Allen G | NJ

Devils' Jake Allen: Tending twine Saturday

Allen will be between the home pipes versus Dallas on Saturday, Amanda Stein of the Devils' official site reports.

Allen has played very well since taking over the No. 1 spot from the injured Jacob Markstrom (knee), going 4-4-0 with a pair of shutouts, a 2.08 GAA and a .930 save percentage. Dallas has generated 3.27 goals per game in 2024-25, eighth in the NHL.

  • Blue Jackets' Elvis Merzlikins: Expected to start Saturday

Merzlikins is slated to patrol the home crease versus Chicago on Saturday, per Mark Scheig of The Hockey Writers.

Merzlikins struggled in his last four games before the break, going 0-3-1 while allowing 15 goals on 133 shots (.887 save percentage). Merzlikins is 19-14-4 with one shutout, a 2.99 GAA and an .895 save percentage across 37 starts this season. The Blackhawks are averaging 2.69 goals per game, 28th in the league in 2024-25.

  • Panthers' Sergei Bobrovsky: Slated to start Saturday

Bobrovsky is expected to defend the home crease versus Seattle on Saturday, according to George Richards of Florida Hockey Now.

Bobrovsky has played better lately, as he has been getting plenty of rest, sharing the crease with Spencer Knight. Bobrovsky is 5-1-0 with a 1.68 GAA and a .937 save percentage since Jan. 25, and getting the last two weeks off should certainly help his cause. Bobrovsky is 23-12-2 overall, with a 2.66 GAA and a .902 save percentage. The Kraken are generating 2.95 goals per game, 15th in the NHL.

  • Jets' Connor Hellebuyck: Will rest Saturday

Hellebuyck is expected to be held out of Saturday's road game against St. Louis to give him some rest after participating in the 4 Nations Face-Off, per Mike McIntyre of the Winnipeg Free Press on Friday.

Hellebuyck made three starts for Team USA during the tournament, posting a 1.59 GAA and a .932 save percentage. He's been similarly excellent for Winnipeg in 2024-25 with a 34-7-2 record, 2.06 GAA and .925 save percentage in 43 outings. Eric Comrie is set to start Saturday, while Kaapo Kahkonen should serve as the backup. When Hellebuyck is ready to resume his regular duties, likely Monday versus San Jose, Kahkonen will presumably be returned to AHL Manitoba.

  • Eric Comrie G | WPG

    Jets' Eric Comrie: Facing Blues

Comrie will be between the pipes versus St. Louis on Saturday, according to Kelly Moore of 680 CJOB radio.

Comrie shut out Carolina in his last start, turning aside 29 shots in a 3-0 victory Feb. 4. Comrie is 5-7-1 with a 2.57 GAA and a .912 save percentage over 13 starts this season. The Blues are generating 2.70 goals per game, 27th in the NHL this season.

  • Oilers' Stuart Skinner: Expected starter for Saturday

Skinner is expected to start on the road in Philadelphia on Saturday, Tony Brar of Oilers TV reports Friday.

Skinner has a 20-12-4 record, 2.74 GAA and .900 save percentage in 37 appearances in 2024-25. He was going through a rough patch before the 4 Nations break, allowing nine goals on 62 shots (.855 save percentage) across his past three outings. The Flyers rank 24th in goals per game with 2.79.

  • Canucks' Kevin Lankinen: Gets five-year contract extension

Lankinen agreed to terms on a five-year, $22.5 million contract extension with the Canucks on Friday.

Lankinen signed a one-year, $875,000 contract at the end of training camp and has become the Canucks' No. 1 goaltender this season. He is 19-8-7 with four shutouts, a 2.53 GAA and a .905 save percentage across 34 appearances in 2024-25. He will continue to battle Thatcher Demko for the top job with the Canucks the rest of this season, as well as next year.

  • Bruins' Michael DiPietro: Returned to Providence

DiPietro was reassigned to AHL Providence on Friday, Mark Divver of the New England Hockey Journal reports.

DiPietro was recalled Tuesday, as Jeremy Swayman was on the United States roster at the 4 Nations Face-Off. DiPietro is having a stellar season at the AHL level this season, going 17-7-4 with a 2.00 GAA and a .928 save percentage across 28 starts.

  • Jets' Connor Hellebuyck: Tough-luck loss at 4 Nations

Hellebuyck made 24 saves in Team USA's 3-2 overtime loss to Canada in the 4 Nations Face-Off Final on Thursday.

Hellebuyck performed well enough to win Thursday, and none of the goals were his fault. The first was a rocket from the mid-point that he didn't see due to the bodies in front of his cage. Sam Bennett then roofed the puck from in tight with a near-perfect shot, and Connor McDavid wired a high rocket from the slot in overtime. Hellebuyck finished the tournament with a 2-1-0 record, 1.59 GAA and .932 save percentage. Despite Thursday's loss in the title game, he was the best netminder at the 4 Nations Face-Off.

  • Blues' Jordan Binnington: Second star in Canada's tourney win

Binnington made 31 saves for Canada in a 3-2 overtime win over the United States in the championship game of the 4 Nations Face-Off on Thursday.

Binner was at his athletic best in the overtime period. He made a number of 10-bell saves that robbed American snipers, including Auston Matthews, on almost sure goals. Binnington was named the game's second star for his work. There were pre-tournament questions about his selection as Canada's No. 1 netminder, and those questions continued early in the format when he allowed some questionable goals. Binnington silenced those critics, and he'll almost certainly bring this confidence back to St. Louis. However, it's difficult to bring the level of netminding he showed Thursday on a consistent basis, so he might not have as much success to close out the NHL season.
