The nature of Crosby's injury wasn't revealed, and it's not obvious what caused his early exit. The 38-year-old can be considered day-to-day for now, though the Penguins will want him back as soon as possible since they're in the playoff race.

Sharks' Tyler Toffoli: Ready to rock
Toffoli (lower body) is slated to play versus the Blues on Thursday, Sheng Peng of San Jose Hockey Now reports.
Toffoli will return from a two-game absence. The 33-year-old is slated to play on the third line and should also be a candidate for power-play time. Pavol Regenda will exit the lineup to make room for Toffoli's return.

Devils' Jacob Markstrom: Slated to face Nashville
Markstrom is expected to start on the road against Nashville on Thursday, per Amanda Stein of the Devils' official site.
Markstrom has won his last two outings while allowing six goals on 40 shots (.850 save percentage). He has a 21-16-1 record, 3.10 GAA and .884 save percentage in 39 outings in 2025-26. Nashville has won its past five games while outscoring the competition 20-10.

DeAngelo (lower body) will miss the next 1-2 weeks, the team announced Thursday.
DeAngelo had already been ruled out for Thursday's game against Dallas. His exit from the lineup coincides with Ryan Pulock's (lower body) return. When DeAngelo is ready to return, he will likely serve in a top-four capacity.

Canadiens' Alexandre Texier: Missing Thursday's game
Texier (lower body) won't play versus the Blue Jackets on Thursday.
Texier is considered day-to-day. The Canadiens begin a road trip with a game in Nashville on Saturday, and it's unclear at this time if Texier will be on the trip. Joe Veleno checked into the lineup Thursday to replace Texier, though Josh Anderson will likely get the bigger boost in ice time.

McCann (lower body) won't play Thursday versus the Lightning, per the NHL media site.
McCann will miss his third straight game. There typically isn't much injury coverage around the Kraken, especially when the team is on the road, so it's not clear when McCann might be available again. The Kraken's next game is Saturday in Buffalo.

Islanders' Ryan Pulock: Good to play Thursday
Pulock (lower body) is expected to play Thursday versus Dallas, per Andrew Gross of Newsday.
Pulock has three goals, 25 points, 12 PIM, 47 hits and 125 blocks in 67 outings in 2025-26. He missed two games due to the injury. Pulock is projected to play alongside Matthew Schaefer on the top pairing. Pulock's return coincides with Tony DeAngelo exiting the lineup due to a lower-body injury.

Panthers' Sam Reinhart: Still sidelined Thursday
Reinhart (foot) won't play Thursday versus the Wild, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports.
Reinhart is set to miss his sixth straight game while battling a number of issues, including a foot problem. Given the Panthers' place in the standings, there will be no rush to get Reinhart back in action, and he continues to lack a timeline for his return. The Panthers play a back-to-back versus the Islanders and Rangers over the weekend, and it's unclear if Reinhart will be available for either of those games.

Red Wings' Michal Postava: Up from minors
Postava was called up from AHL Grand Rapids on Thursday under emergency conditions.
Postava has a 1.86 GAA and a .932 save percentage in 21 outings with Grand Rapids this season. He hasn't made his NHL debut yet. Cam Talbot (undisclosed) won't be available for Friday's road game against Buffalo, so Postava or John Gibson will get the start with the other netminder serving as the understudy.

Ersson is expected to start at home against Chicago on Thursday, per Jordan Hall of NBC Sports Philadelphia.
Ersson has an 11-10-5 record, 3.28 GAA and .864 save percentage in 28 outings in 2025-26. He's making his first start since last Thursday, when he stopped 22 of 25 shots in a 4-3 shootout win over Los Angeles. Chicago ranks 30th in goals per game with 2.59 this season.
