  • Rangers' Mason Thompson: Gets MiLB contract from Texas

The Rangers signed Thompson (biceps) to a minor-league contract Tuesday.

Thompson permitted 14 earned runs over just 10.2 innings in 2025 for the Nationals and also had a 6.61 ERA in the minors in his first season back from Tommy John surgery. He ended the 2025 campaign on the injured list with biceps tendinitis and it's unclear whether he'll have any restrictions at the beginning of spring training.

  • Rangers' Nick Pratto: Goes to Rangers on MiLB deal

The Rangers signed Pratto to a minor-league contract Thursday, Chris Cotillo of MassLive.com reports.

Pratto has slashed only .216/.295/.364 with an ugly 38.7 percent strikeout rate across 144 games in the majors and has been stuck in the minors each of the last two seasons. He's still just 27 and a former top-100 prospect, so the Rangers will find out whether a change of scenery will do Pratto some good. Most likely, he will begin the 2026 season at Triple-A Round Rock.

  • Rangers' Cody Bradford: Rehab assignment by Opening Day

Bradford (elbow) could begin a rehab assignment around Opening Day, Kennedi Landry of MLB.com. Rangers president of baseball operations Chris Young indicated that May is the target for the left-hander's return.

Bradford, who recently threw a bullpen session, missed all of 2025 after sustaining an elbow injury during spring training that required an internal brace procedure in June. He showed promise in 2024, posting a 3.54 ERA over 76.1 innings, but missed months due to back and rib injuries. Texas bolstered its rotation during the offseason with the acquisition of MacKenzie Gore from the Nationals and may not have a spot in the rotation for Bradford upon his return. Beyond the top three of Jacob deGrom, Nathan Eovaldi (groin) and Gore, other candidates for the back end of the rotation include Jack Leiter, Kumar Rocker, Jacob Latz, Austin Gomber and Cal Quantrill .

  • Rangers' Cal Quantrill: Returns to Texas

Quantrill signed a minor-league deal with the Rangers on Thursday, which includes an invitation to spring training, Evan Grant of The Dallas Morning News reports.

Quantrill closed the 2025 season in the Rangers' organization, making two starts at Triple-A Round Rock. He looks unlikely to break camp in the rotation after posting a 6.04 ERA over 26 appearances between Atlanta and Miami last year, but he could make an impact at some point in the new campaign.

  • Rangers' Sebastian Walcott: Invited to spring training

The Rangers have extended Walcott an invitation to big-league camp during spring training, Shawn McFarland of The Dallas Morning News reports.

Walcott was in major-league camp for the Rangers last year, too, before being an early cut. He might stick around longer this year, but the young shortstop will again head back to the minors for the start of the 2026 campaign. Slated to turn 20 in March, Walcott slashed .255/.355/.386 with 13 home runs and 32 stolen bases over 124 games in 2025 at Double-A Frisco. Walcott isn't a finished product but has some of the highest fantasy upside of any position player in the minors.

  • Rangers' Evan Carter: Aiming for 30 stolen bases

Carter said last week that one of his goals this season is to steal 30 bases, Shawn McFarland of The Dallas Morning News reports.

Carter is 19-for-21 on stolen-base attempts in 131 career games, and he ranked in the 90th percentile in sprint speed in 2025. The outfielder believes new first-base coach Travis Jankowski -- who stole 104 bases in his career -- will be able to help him get the most out of his speed on the bases. Injuries have been Carter's biggest downfall, as he's played only 108 games with the big club over the last two seasons. However, he's fully recovered from the fractured wrist that ended his 2025 season and said that "I actually feel really good right now" after merely "kind of telling myself that I feel good in the past." Carter remains a major injury risk in 2026 -- particularly since his back issues have been chronic -- and the left-handed hitter is unlikely to play much versus southpaws. There's still some breakout potential with the 23-year-old, though, and he only costs a late-round flier in fantasy leagues.

  • Rangers' Austin Gomber: Lands MiLB deal with Texas

Gomber agreed Sunday with the Rangers on a minor-league contract that includes an invitation to big-league spring training, Aram Leighton of JustBaseball.com reports.

Though Texas recently bolstered its pitching staff with the acquisition of MacKenzie Gore, Gomber could still get the chance to compete for a back-end rotation spot this spring. Before being cut loose by the Rockies last August, Gomber turned in a 7.49 ERA, 1.72 WHIP and 34:17 K:BB in 57.2 innings, but he was slightly more effective in his six starts away from Coors Field (6.44 ERA, 1.50 WHIP in 29.1 innings). Gomber also closed the season strong while spending the final month of the 2025 campaign at Triple-A Iowa in the Cubs organization, and the Rangers may be banking on the 32-year-old lefty's pitch-to-contact approach yielding more success in Arlington than in the unforgiving confines of Colorado.

  • Rangers' Austin Roberts: Inks MiLB deal with Rangers

Roberts signed a minor-league contract with the Rangers on Friday, Evan Grant of The Dallas Morning News reports.

Roberts split time between Double-A and Triple-A in 2025, finishing the season with a 4.21 ERA and 1.42 WHIP across 57.2 total innings. The 27-year-old righty will likely spend the vast majority of 2026 at Triple-A Round Rock.

  • Rangers' MacKenzie Gore: Sent to Rangers

The Nationals traded Gore to the Rangers on Thursday in exchange for Gavin Fien, Alejandro Rosario (elbow), Abimelec Ortiz, Devin Fitz-Gerald (shoulder) and Yeremy Cabrera, Robert Murray of FanSided.com reports.

Gore was seemingly on his way to enjoying a breakout campaign in 2025, but he collapsed after the All-Star break, turning in a 6.75 ERA and 1.70 WHIP over 49.1 innings across his final 11 starts. The 26-year-old lefty still has plenty to offer fantasy managers, however, as he's tallied at least 180 strikeouts in each of the last two seasons while starting 30 games in both years. Moving from Washington to Texas should also raise his ceiling for wins.

  • Rangers' Jake Burger: Fully recovered from wrist surgery

Burger is fully recovered from left wrist surgery and has been working in the batting cage on regaining his pull-side power, Shawn McFarland of The Dallas Morning News reports.

Burger referred to his pull-side power as "my bread and butter," but in 2025 his pull rate dropped from 42.4 percent to 34.6 percent and his pull AIR rate dipped from 19.8 percent to 13.5 percent year-over-year. Nagging injuries likely played a part, and Burger said he's done "a lot of Pilates" this offseason in hopes of avoiding soft-tissue injuries. Burger hit 63 home runs from 2023-2024 before falling off to 16 in an injury-shortened 2025 campaign. With health, he could be in for a bounce-back season in the power department in 2026.

  • Rangers' Josh Sborz: Back with Rangers as NRI

The Rangers re-signed Sborz (shoulder) to a minor-league contract Tuesday that includes an invitation to spring training.

After being non-tendered by the Rangers in November, Sborz is now back in the fold on a minor-league deal. The 32-year-old missed much of the 2025 season while recuperating from shoulder surgery and was eventually shut down in September due to poor velocity and results during his rehab assignment. It's unclear whether Sborz will have any restrictions at the beginning of spring training.

  • Rangers' Dom Hamel: Removed from 40-man roster

The Rangers designated Hamel for assignment Tuesday.

The move clears a spot on the 40-man roster for Jakob Junis, whose signing was officially announced Tuesday. Hamel has not made an appearance for the Rangers since being a waiver claim in September. He held a 5.32 ERA and 75:22 K:BB over 67.2 frames at Triple-A Syracuse in the Mets organization in 2025.

  • Rangers' Jakob Junis: Headed to Texas

Junis and the Rangers agreed on a one-year, $4 million contract Sunday, Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic reports.

Junis will head to Texas after posting a solid 2.97 ERA and 1.23 WHIP with 55 strikeouts over 66.2 innings in 57 regular-season appearances out of the bullpen with the Guardians in 2025. The Rangers will be the right-hander's fifth team in the last four seasons, and he'll provide his new squad with another experienced option in the bullpen ahead of the 2026 campaign.
