  • Buccaneers' Andrew Adams: Another solid campaign

Adams, who logged a season-high 89 snaps and posted seven tackles (four solo) in the Week 17 overtime loss to the Falcons, finished the 2019 season with 46 tackles (41 solo), one interception, three passes defensed and one forced fumble across 14 games. The four-year veteran once again operated as a rotational safety for the majority of the season after logging his first defensive snaps in Week 5 against the Saints. Adams once again demonstrated sure tackling, but he wasn't able to come close to replicating his four-interception tally from 2018. The 27-year-old is headed toward unrestricted free agency at the start of the new league year in March, and it remains to be seen if the Buccaneers will be interested in bringing him back for a third season with the franchise or if he's able to get a starting opportunity somewhere on the open market.

  • Giants' Andrew Adams: Competing for starting role

Adams will compete for a starting role at free safety during training camp, Art Stapleton of The Bergen Record reports. • Giants' Andrew Adams: Expected to start for Collins in Week 17

Adams is expected to start at strong safety Sunday against the Redskins with Landon Collins (forearm) landing on injured reserve, Michael Eisen of the Giants' official site reports. Adams was previously in line to start Week 15 against the Eagles when Collins was listed as doubtful with an ankle injury, but the star safety surprisingly gained clearance to play before departing early. The ankle aggravation didn't prevent Collins from starting Week 16 against the Cardinals either, but he'll officially be shuttered for the season after suffering a broken forearm in that contest. Adams shouldn't be expected to match Collins' 6.9 tackle-per-game pace as he steps into a focal role in the secondary, but the prospect of increased snaps keeps Adams on the IDP radar nonetheless. While serving as a reserve the past two weeks, Adams has accumulated 11 stops across 131 snaps (89 on defense, 42 on special teams).

  • Giants' Andrew Adams: Likely starting at strong safety in Week 15

Adams is expected to receive the start at strong safety in Sunday's game against the Eagles, Jordan Raanan of ESPN.com reports. The Giants only have two healthy safeties on the roster with Landon Collins (ankle) doubtful for Week 15 and Nat Berhe (hamstring) ruled out for the contest, so Adams is positioned to start alongside free safety Darian Thompson almost by default. While the lack of alternatives should put Adams in line for a hefty snap count, it would be unwise to bank on him delivering the huge tackle totals that Collins has consistently provided in recent weeks. Adams has seen most of his action on special teams in his 13 appearances this season, providing 16 tackles and forcing a fumble.

  • Giants' Andrew Adams: Competing in training camp

Adams was impressive during OTAs and could compete for the starting free safety position, Dan Salomone of the Giants' official site reports. Safeties coach David Merritt said of the competition, "I'm going to be honest with you, you can sit here right now and say yes [it's Darian Thompson], but I can't sit here and take away from what Andrew Adams has done." Adams notched 46 tackles, five passes defensed and one interception over 14 games last season as a replacement for Darian Thompson, who missed almost the entire year with a foot injury. However, with Thompson back to full health, it appears as if he is the favorite to claim the starting free safety role. While Adams is a dark horse, it's tough to rule out the 24-year-old completely, making this training camp battle quite intriguing.
