  • Lions' Frank Ragnow: Moved back to reserve/retired list

The Lions placed Ragnow (hamstring) on the reserve/retired list Monday, Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press reports. Ragnow came out retirement Wednesday in an attempt to bolster the Lions' offensive line, but that comeback was short-lived after he failed his physical due to a Grade 3 hamstring strain. He has been placed back on the reserve/retired list, and it remains to be seen whether the 29-year-old will attempt to come out of retirement again going into the 2026 season. Graham Glasgow (knee) will remain as Detroit's starting center while Trystan Colon serves as the backup.

  • Lions' Frank Ragnow: Fails physical, won't play in 2025

The Lions announced Saturday that Ragnow failed his physical due to a Grade 3 hamstring strain, which will keep the 29-year-old sidelined for the 2025 season. The 2018 first-rounder came out of retirement Wednesday, and despite signs pointing to him being available as soon as Week 15 against the Rams, his physical came back with the diagnosis of a severe hamstring strain. Head coach Dan Campbell relayed to reporters Saturday that Ragnow disclosed to the team that he was dealing with a hamstring injury, but neither party knew its severity until the physical, per Colton Pouncy of The Athletic. With Ragnow out of the picture, Graham Glasgow (knee) will remain as the Lions' starting center while Trystan Colon -- who started against the Packers on Thursday -- serves as the backup.

  • Lions' Frank Ragnow: Announces surprise retirement

Ragnow announced his decision to retire from the NFL on Monday via his personal Instagram account. Ragnow's statement reads, in part: "I have given this team everything I have and I thought I had more to give, but the reality is I simply don't. I have to listen to my body and this has been one of the hardest decisions of my life." The 29-year-old has remained one of the NFL's best centers despite battling injuries in recent seasons, and coming off three consecutive Pro Bowl campaigns his retirement comes both as a shock and as a notable blow for one of the NFC's best offenses. Ragnow's announcement comes just days after news of his holding out from voluntary workouts due to dissatisfaction with his current contract, per Christian Booher of SI.com. Starting guards Tate Ratledge and Graham Glasgow both have experience at center, so Detroit could rely on one of them to take over for Ragnow while asking 2024 sixth-rounder Christian Mahogany to step into a larger interior role after a solid rookie campaign.

  • Lions' Frank Ragnow: Getting work at practice

Coach Dan Campbell said Monday that Ragnow (pectoral) was back at practice, Tim Twentyman of the Lions' official site reports. Ragnow sat out of Detroit's contest in Week 4 with a pectoral issue before the Lions' Week 5 bye, but it now appears he may be on track to return to the field for Week 6. The Lions' first official practice report of the week Wednesday should give a better indication of Ragnow's status.

  • Lions' Frank Ragnow: Ruled out for Week 4

Lions head coach Dan Campbell said Thursday that Ragnow (pectoral) has been ruled out for Monday's game against the Seahawks, Tim Twentyman of the Lions' official site reports. Ragnow, who is tending to a partial pec tear, will sit out the Week 4 game and then benefit from a Week 5 bye, potentially allowing him to return to the field Week 6 versus the Cowboys on Oct. 13. Graham Glasgow will likely slide over from left guard to start at center until Ragnow is ready to go. Ragnow is a pillar of the Lions' offensive line, so the team should prioritize his long-term health above all else.

  • Lions' Frank Ragnow: Ready for NFC Championship Game

Ragnow (ankle/knee) has no injury designation ahead of Sunday's NFC Championship Game against the 49ers, Tim Twentyman of the Lions' official site reports. Despite being in visible pain throughout the Lions' divisional-round win over the Buccaneers, Ragnow was able to play through his injuries. He's expected to do it once again in the NFC Championship Game while filling his usual starting center role.

  • Lions' Frank Ragnow: Nursing sprained knee, ankle

Ragnow sustained a sprained knee and a sprained ankle during Sunday's win versus the Buccaneers, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports. Impressively, Ragnow was able to finish Detroit's divisional-round victory despite the injuries. He's also expected to suit up for the NFC Championship Game at San Francisco, but it wouldn't be surprising to see him sit out of practice at least a couple times during the week.

  • Lions' Frank Ragnow: Won't return in Week 13

Ragnow (knee) has been ruled out for the remainder of Sunday's game against the Saints. Ragnow sustained the knee injury in the second quarter and was carted back to the locker room. Graham Glasgow will stay at center for the rest of the game while Colby Sorsdal will step in at right guard.

  • Lions' Frank Ragnow: Will not debut

Ragnow (toe) is listed as inactive for Monday's matchup with the Raiders. Ragnow has ramped up his preparation recently in hopes of making his season debut. While it appears to be nearing, he will have to wait another week before potentially suiting up. As a result, Graham Glasgow is expected to start at center versus Las Vegas.

  • Lions' Frank Ragnow: Status for Monday up in the air

Ragnow (calf/toe) is doubtful for Monday's contest against the Raiders, Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press reports. Head coach Dan Campbell noted Saturday that it's "hard to say" whether Ragnow will be able to play or not, but the coach did say that the "good news" was that the center has an additional day to recover because the Lions play Monday night. Birkett notes that Detroit has been giving Ragnow one day off of practice per week to rest a toe injury he has dealt with since the 2021 season. If Ragnow is unable to suit up Monday, Graham Glasgow -- who has started at both guard positions this season -- is expected to shift to center while Kayode Awosika would start at left guard.
