Johnson (undisclosed) was placed on the PUP list Sunday, Vincent Bonsignore of the Las Vegas Review-Journal reports. Johnson was apparently dealing with an injury during OTAs and will now start training camp on the PUP list. Last year, the 2019 fourth-round pick appeared in 14 games for Las Vegas and registered 13 tackles. The Houston product is eligible to return from the list at any time during the preseason.

  • Raiders' Isaiah Johnson: Returns to practice

Johnson (concussion) is practicing Monday, Scott Bair of NBC Sports Bay Area reports. The Raiders have a 21-day practice window to decide whether to officially activate Johnson or place him on season-ending injured reserve, per Blair. The rookie fourth-round pick appears to be progressing well in his recovery, and he would likely play a depth or rotational role in Oakland's secondary if activated to the roster.

  • Raiders' Isaiah Johnson: Lands on IR

Johnson (concussion) announced via his Twitter profile that he was placed on injured reserve Monday and that he's also dealing with a fracture on the right side of his face. Johnson originally suffered the injuries Aug. 11. The 23-year-old won't be eligible to return until Week 9 if he's able to recover from his injuries by then. For now, it seems that Keisean Nixon will shoulder the extra reps in Johnson's absence.

  • Raiders' Isaiah Johnson: Week 1 status uncertain

Coach Jon Gruden said Sunday that Johnson is dealing with a facial injury, and his status for Week 1 is unclear, Scott Bair of NBC Sports Bay Area reports. The injury is said to have something to do with his vision and likely stems from a concussion he suffered in the first game of the preseason. It's unclear if Johnson has cleared the concussion protocol, but he'll have to receive full clearance before returning to the field. If the Houston product can't go for Week 1, Nick Nelson could see an increased role in the defense.

  • Raiders' Isaiah Johnson: Lands in Oaktown

The Raiders selected Johnson in the fourth round of the 2019 NFL Draft, 129th overall. A converted wide receiver, Johnson brings length and athleticism to the cornerback position out of Houston. Johnson checks in at 6-foot-2 and 208 pounds with legit 4.40 speed and can still reach another level if developed properly. He may be raw initially for the Raiders but in time he can challenge for a starting role opposite Gareon Conley.
