  • Jets' John Simpson: Plays in preseason loss

Simpson (back) played 18 snaps on offense and one on special teams during the Jets' preseason loss versus the Giants on Saturday. Simpson had been nursing a back injury he suffered in practice earlier this month but is now healthy again. He will serve as the team's starting left guard once the regular season begins.

  • Jets' John Simpson: Nursing back injury

Simpson (back) is expected to be sidelined for "a week or two," Brian Costello of the New York Post reports. It doesn't sound like a long-term issue for the veteran left guard. Simpson signed a two-year deal with the Jets last offseason and started all 17 regular-season games for the team in 2024.

  • Jets' John Simpson: Past illness

Simpson (illness) has no injury designation ahead of Sunday's matchup against the Dolphins. The 27-year-old popped up on the Jets' injury report Thursday as a non-participant in practice due to an illness. He then returned to practice in a full capacity Friday, suggesting he's moved past his illness in time to play in Sunday's divisional matchup. Expect Simpson to serve as Jets' top left guard in Week 14.

  • Jets' John Simpson: Unlikely to return Thursday

Simpson (groin) is doubtful to return to Thursday's contest against the Texans. Simpson suffered a groin injury in the first half and his night now appears to be done. In his absence, Alec Lindstrom is a candidate to see an increase in workload on the offensive line.

  • John Simpson: Waived Saturday

Simpson was waived by the Raiders on Saturday, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports. Simpson appeared in three games for the Raiders this season, starting two of them. The 25-year-old saw the field for the first time Thursday since Week 2, filling in for Alex Bars (knee) at left guard. If Bars is to miss extended time, the Raiders will likely rely on Dylan Parham to fill in.

  • Raiders' John Simpson: Suits up Thursday

Simpson (ribs) is listed as active for Thursday's game against the Cowboys. Simpson approached the contest viewed as a game-time decision, but he'll be available Thursday and thus is slated to handle his starting left guard duties Week 12.

  • Raiders' John Simpson: Dealing with rib injury

Simpson (ribs) is questionable to return Sunday against the Bengals. Simpson has started every game this season at left guard, so his absence would be a big blow to the Raiders' offensive line. If he is unable to return, Jordan Simmons will likely replace him for the remainder of the contest.

  • Raiders' John Simpson: Ready to go Monday

Simpson (shoulder) is active for Monday's game versus the Saints. Simpson entered Monday questionable after suffering a shoulder injury during the practice week, but he'll be on standby Monday since the Raiders' offensive line is pretty banged up.
