  • Christian Holmes: Let go by Commanders

Holmes was waived by Washington on Sunday. Holmes appeared in 13 games with the Commanders in 2023, recording eight total tackles and a pass deflection while playing the majority of his snaps on special teams. He will now look for a new opportunity elsewhere ahead of the 2024 season.

  • Commanders' Christian Holmes: Spotted at practice Thursday

Holmes (concussion) was seen participating in Thursday's practice session, Nick Wass of the Herald Journal News reports. Holmes missed the last game of the 2023 regular season due to a concussion. He played most of his snaps on special teams across 13 regular-season games last year and recorded eight tackles (three solo) and one pass defended. The 2022 seventh-round pick is competing for a depth role at corner behind presumptive starters Emmanuel Forbes and Benjamin St-Juste.

  • Commanders' Christian Holmes: Missing another week

Holmes (concussion) has been ruled out ahead of Sunday's game against the Cowboys, John Keim of ESPN.com reports. Holmes recorded back-to-back DNPs to begin the Commanders' week of practice after missing the team's Week 17 affair with this concussion, so it's no surprise that he'll be inactive again Sunday. Kyu Blu Kelly could see increased work in Washington's secondary with Holmes missing Week 18.

  • Commanders' Christian Holmes: Out with concussion

Holmes (concussion) is out for the rest of Sunday's game versus the 49ers, Nicki Jhabvala of The Washington Post reports. Holmes recorded three tackles (one solo) and a pass defensed before exiting Sunday's contest. With Kendall Fuller (knee), Benjamin St-Juste (concussion) and Tariq Castro-Fields (shoulder) all also out, rookie first-rounder Emmanuel Forbes is probably on deck for increased snaps at corner.

  • Commanders' Christian Holmes: Ready to go Sunday

Holmes (hamstring) does not carry an injury designation into Sunday's game at the Giants, John Keim of ESPN.com reports. After sitting out Week 6 action due to a hamstring injury he sustained in Week 5 versus Chicago, Holmes will suit up in Week 7. He has played exclusively on special teams in 2023 and should retain that role Sunday.
