Allen was waived by Chicago with an injury designation Saturday, and he'll be forced to miss the entire 2023 campaign unless he reaches an injury settlement with the team. It's unclear what injury he's dealing with, but Saturday's move allowed the Bears to sign Marcedes Lewis.

The Bears signed Allen to a reserve/future contract Monday, Larry Mayer of the team's official site reports.
Allen joined the Bears as an undrafted free agent back in May of 2022, where he eventually spent all but one game of this past campaign on the team's practice squad. The 25-year-old is now slated to remain with Chicago throughout the offseason and compete for a spot on the Bears' active roster next year.

The Bears waived Allen on Tuesday, Brad Biggs of the Chicago Tribune reports.
Allen signed with the Bears in May as an undrafted free agent out of Iowa State, where he caught 26 passes for 284 yards and two touchdowns in 11 games during his final collegiate season. The 6-foot-6 tight end caught both of his targets for six yards across three preseason games and now finds himself among a wave of cuts ahead of Tuesday's 53-man roster deadline.
