Brazzell is no more than a late-round dart throw in redraft leagues, as we expect him to begin the year behind Tetairoa McMillan and Jalen Coker in a pass offense that projects to be below average. He led the SEC with nine receiving touchdowns last year and accounted for 26.7% of Tennessee's receiving yards. He has the potential to become the type of big-play wide receiver that can be Fantasy relevant on low volume, and could eventually be a very good red zone threat in the NFL. We are more hopeful for him in Dynasty leagues and view him as a good pick early in Round 2 of most rookie drafts. If he makes noise at training camp, we may get more excited about spending a Round 12 pick on him in redraft as well, but 2026 is probably a development year for him, barring injury.

Brazzell will officially miss his entire rookie season due to the LCL tear he suffered during Wednesday's training camp practice. The rookie third-round pick will undergo surgery and set his full attention on making a recovery for the 2027 campaign. Initial reports suggested Brazzell would miss around two months, but that was assuming he could recover without surgery. After getting a second opinion, Brazzell will undergo surgery and presumably spend the entirety of his rookie season on injured reserve. With the 2026 third-round pick out of the equation, Xavier Legette and John Metchie are the strongest candidates for the No. 3 WR role behind locked-in starters Tetairoa McMillan and Jalen Coker. The timing of Brazzell's injury (July 29) should allow him to come back at full health for Carolina's offseason program in 2027.

Brazzell went down while participating in 7-on-7 drills Wednesday, Mike Kaye of The Charlotte Observer reports, during his first practice since knee soreness caused him to log a two-day absence. Per Person, his LCL injury is unrelated to that earlier soreness. While Brazzell will likely be able to retake the field during his rookie season, an injury forcing him to miss presumably the rest of training camp, and potentially also regular-season time, is a notable blow. Panthers head coach Dave Canales said Wednesday that Brazzell (knee) has aggravated the same knee injury that caused him to miss the team's last two practices, Sheena Quick of Fox Sports Radio 1340 reports.
Brazzell had to be helped off the field and carted to the locker room upon after retaking the practice field Wednesday, so it's encouraging that his initial injury prognosis isn't more severe. The rookie third-round pick will work to get back to full health before returning to practice at a later date in training camp. The Panthers selected Brazzell in the third round of the 2026 NFL Draft, 83rd overall.
Brazzell posted an impressive 4.37-second 40-yard dash time at the 2026 NFL Scouting Combine, and that speed -- coupled with a 6-foot-4 frame -- served him well during his four-year college career. He spent his final two years in Tennessee and was named to both the All-American Third-Team and All-SEC First-Team in 2025 after catching 62 passes for 1,017 yards and nine touchdowns across 12 games. Brazzell has no trouble getting to top speed, making him a dangerous deep threat that can win any jump ball, though his route-running tree and run blocking will both need to improve at the NFL level. With 2025 Offensive Rookie of the Year Tetairoa McMillan leading the Panthers' pass-catching group, Brazzell's main competition for targets from QB Bryce Young will come from Jalen Coker and Xavier Legette.
