The Steelers used a second-round pick in this year's NFL Draft on Bernard, but Fantasy managers should not use a draft pick on him outside of deep leagues and of course, Dynasty leagues. It's not that we don't like Bernard's talent -- we just don't like his situation. He will be behind DK Metcalf and Michael Pittman in the pecking order for targets, and we don't expect the Steelers to have a prolific passing offense. The Steelers ranked 22nd in gross passing yards per game last season, and there's no guarantee they'll improve on that. It seems like an uphill battle for Bernard to become Fantasy-relevant this season. We hope he surprises us and serves as a reliable short-area target for Aaron Rodgers, but it's best to leave him for deep leagues until that happens.

Steelers' Germie Bernard: Role as rookie TBD
Rotowire
Bernard, who showed "confident hands and good body control" during OTAs and minicamp, per Mike DeFabo of The Athletic, figures to compete with Roman Wilson this summer for work behind DK Metcalf and Michael Pittman in three-receiver sets.
DeFabo notes that Wilson got almost all of the first-team reps in such sets this spring, but the competition between the 2024 third-rounder and Bernard should heat up during training camp. Of the two, Bernard -- who the Steelers took 47th overall in the 2026 NFL Draft -- brings more fantasy upside down the road, but it remains to be seen how much work he'll see out of the gate in the team's Aaron Rodgers-helmed offense. With that in mind, DeFabo suggests that while the 6-foot-1, 206-pound Alabama product has the versatility to line up everywhere, he "probably will carve out his niche as a big slot" as a rookie.

Steelers' Germie Bernard: Taken by Pittsburgh in second round
Rotowire
The Steelers selected Bernard in the second round of the 2026 NFL Draft, 47th overall.
Bernard spent the last two seasons of his four-year college career at Alabama, where he operated mostly as the team's Z receiver and finished the 2025 campaign with 64 catches for 862 yards and seven touchdowns across 14 games. He posted the fastest three-cone time at the 2026 NFL Scouting Combine (6.71 seconds), and he has the overall athleticism and skill set that should allow him to serve as an immediate contributor for the Steelers, whether it's Aaron Rodgers or another quarterback throwing passes to him. Bernard figures to slide in as the team's WR3 behind veterans DK Metcalf and Michael Pittman and ahead of 2024 third-rounder Roman Wilson.
