  • Chargers' Gus Edwards: Week 12 Waiver Priority List

Edwards didn't have a big game in Week 11 against Cincinnati with six carries for 27 yards and no targets, but I still want to roster him as a potential lottery ticket behind J.K. Dobbins. While Dobbins has been a star this season, averaging 15.1 PPR points per game, this is uncharted territory for him with a career-high 152 carries through 10 games. If Dobbins were to miss any time then Edwards could be a starting Fantasy option in all leagues, and he's worth adding for 5 percent of your remaining FAB.

  • Chargers' Gus Edwards: Not involved much in win

Edwards tallied six carries for 27 yards in a 34-27 win over the Bengals on Sunday. J.K. Dobbins once again saw the lion's share of the workload (11 carries, 56 yards and two touchdowns) and even Hassan Haskins was given multiple goal-line totes, although he floundered with the opportunity. Edwards' fantasy value is likely dependent on the health of Dobbins, who has already surpassed his career high in carries (134) and has averaged under 4.0 yards a carry in four of his past six contests.

  • Chargers' Gus Edwards: Cleared for Week 11

Edwards (ankle) doesn't carry an injury designation for Sunday night's game against the Bengals after practicing fully Friday. Edwards was on the field for 15 snaps and logged 10 carries for 55 yards in his return from a four-game absence in this past Sunday's 27-17 win over the Titans. While the running back was limited at practice Wednesday and Thursday, his return to a full session Friday paves the way for him to be available this weekend. Though Edwards isn't a factor in the Chargers' passing attack, he figures to earn enough carries alongside J.K. Dobbins (39 snaps, 15 carries in Week 10) going forward to merit attention in deeper fantasy formats.

  • Chargers' Gus Edwards: Limited at practice Wednesday

Edwards (ankle) was a limited participant at practice Wednesday. In his return from a four-game absence due to an ankle injury in Sunday's 27-17 win over the Titans, Edwards logged 15 snaps and carried the ball 10 times for 55 yards. With no reported setbacks coming out of the contest, Edwards' limitations Wednesday may have just been a case of workload management. The running back now has two more chances to upgrade to full practice participation ahead of Sunday's game against the Bengals.

  • Chargers' Gus Edwards: Week 11 Waiver Priority List

Edwards returned from his four-game absence with an ankle injury in Week 10 against Tennessee and immediately made an impact with 10 carries for 55 yards. He will work in tandem with J.K. Dobbins, and Edwards has lottery-ticket upside if Dobbins were to miss any time. Just keep in mind that Edwards has one catch for 2 yards on one target this season, but he could be a flex option if he continues to get double digits in touches on a weekly basis. He's worth adding for 5-10 percent of your remaining FAB.

  • Chargers' Gus Edwards: Effective runner in return

Edwards carried the ball 10 times for 55 yards in the 27-17 win over the Titans on Sunday. It was a productive return for Edwards, who missed the previous four games due to an ankle injury. The bruising running back saw three red-zone carries, but most of them came closer to the 10-yard line as opposed to true goal-line work. Hassan Haskins was also given a chance to stick it to his former team, punching a one-yard touchdown in on the team's final touchdown drive that effectively ended the game. Edwards was looked at on the sideline by trainers briefly in the second half, and his production did fall off in the final 30 minutes, but that could easily be attributed to the Chargers wanting to get J.K. Dobbins the lion's share of the running back platoon.

  • Chargers' Gus Edwards: Active as expected Week 10

Edwards (ankle) is active for Sunday's Week 10 game against the Titans, Kris Rhim of ESPN.com reports. Edwards was activated off injured reserve Saturday, so his active status isn't surprising. In his return from a four-game absence, Edwards will have a clear path to the No. 2 role behind J.K. Dobbins with rookie Kimani Vidal a healthy scratch. However, in his final two games before going on injured reserve, Edwards only logged 29 total snaps and nine carries in that slotting.

  • Chargers' Gus Edwards: Trending toward returning Sunday

Edwards (ankle), who is still listed as questionable for Sunday's contest against the Titans, was activated off injured reserve Saturday, Kris Rhim of ESPN.com reports. As a result, Edwards will likely miss the minimum four games after injuring his ankle back in Week 4. It'll be interesting to see just how much work the 29-year-old sees due to the emergence of rookie Kimani Vidal and the established bell-cow role of J.K. Dobbins, who has 70 carries over the last four weeks.

  • Chargers' Gus Edwards: Questionable for Week 10

Edwards (ankle) practiced fully Friday and carries a questionable game status for Sunday's contest against the Titans. The Chargers designated Edwards for return from injured reserve Wednesday, and the running back could resume action as soon as this weekend if the team elects to activate him by Saturday afternoon. If Edwards does rejoin the mix in Week 10, in his return he'd presumably work in a complementary role in a Los Angeles backfield that's led by J.K. Dobbins and also includes sixth-round rookie Kimani Vidal.

  • Chargers' Gus Edwards: Limited in return to practice

Edwards (ankle) was a limited participant in practice Wednesday. Edwards took part in practice Wednesday after being designated for return from injured reserve earlier in the day. Though the Chargers will have a 21-day window to reinstate Edwards to the active roster, he could be activated from IR as soon as Sunday's game against the Titans, if the team is satisfied with how he looks during practice this week. Regardless of when Edwards returns to game action, J.K. Dobbins should continue to lead the Los Angeles backfield.

  • Chargers' Gus Edwards: Practice window opening Week 10

The Chargers designated Edwards (ankle) for return from injured reserve Wednesday, Kris Rhim of ESPN.com reports. Edwards hasn't played since prior to the Chargers' Week 5 bye, but he's eligible to return from IR and will resume practicing ahead of Sunday's game against the Titans. Even if he doesn't get activated ahead of the Week 10 contest, Edwards will presumably be added back to the active roster at some point prior to the expiration of the 21-day practice window. Once available, Edwards will step into a backup role behind J.K. Dobbins.

  • Chargers' Gus Edwards: Lands on IR

Edwards (ankle) was placed on injured reserve Saturday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports. Edwards' workload had tailed off in Weeks 3 and 4, as he recorded nine carries for 28 yards in the two prior weeks before the bye. J.K. Dobbins has been a revelation as the team's preferred starting running back, but with Edwards out, it's possible rookie sixth-round pick Kimani Vidal will see his first significant action at the NFL level.

  • Chargers' Gus Edwards: Third straight DNP on Friday

Edwards (ankle) remained a non-participant in practice Friday, Daniel Popper of The Athletic reports. Edwards has missed all three of the Chargers' practices, so he'll have an injury designation for Sunday's game against the Broncos, and it wouldn't be surprising if he's ruled out on Friday's injury report. Hassan Haskins and Kimani Vidal could see additional opportunities behind J.K. Dobbins if Edwards doesn't play.

  • Chargers' Gus Edwards: Misses another practice

Edwards (ankle) didn't practice Thursday. Edwards also missed Wednesday's session, so he'll likely need to practice Friday in order to have a chance to play Sunday against the Broncos. If Edwards is limited or out this weekend, Hassan Haskins and Kimani Vidal would be in line to see added complementary snaps behind top RB J.K. Dobbins.

  • Chargers' Gus Edwards: Misses Wednesday's practice

Edwards didn't practice Wednesday due to an ankle injury. Edwards' absence from practice comes as a surprise, considering that he wasn't known to be contending with an injury coming out of the Chargers' Week 4 loss to the Chiefs before the team went on bye for Week 5. He'll still have two more opportunities to increase his activity in practice, but if Edwards ends up missing this Sunday's game in Denver, Hassan Haskins and Kimani Vidal would be candidates to see complementary work behind top back J.K. Dobbins.

  • Chargers' Gus Edwards: Season low in snaps

Edwards carried the ball six times for 19 yards in Sunday's 17-10 loss to the Chiefs. The burly running back played a season-low 25 percent of the snaps, which is an alarming number considering the game script was relatively favorable for Los Angeles' run-heavy approach. J.K. Dobbins didn't do a whole lot with the extra carries (14 for 32 yards), but Dobbins has proven to be a significantly more reliable target out of the backfield, which has limited Edwards' fantasy viability.

  • Chargers' Gus Edwards: Dramatic drop-off in carries

Edwards carried the ball three times for nine yards in the 20-10 loss to the Steelers on Sunday. It's a dramatic fall-off in touches for Edwards after he tallied 29 carries through the previous two weeks, although he averaged just 2.9 yards a carry on those looks. It's entirely possible the game plan was heavily reliant on the elusiveness and vision of J.K. Dobbins, who didn't do much with his 15 carries (44 yards), but the uneven split is something to monitor with Dobbins excelling to start the season, Sunday notwithstanding.

  • Chargers' Gus Edwards: Used often in win

Edwards carried the ball 11 times for 26 yards in Sunday's 22-10 win over the Raiders. He also caught his lone target for two yards. Edwards led the team in carries Sunday, but it was J.K. Dobbins who stole the show by logging carries of 46 and 61 yards en route to a 135-yard day on just 10 touches. The transplanted Baltimore duo figures to split the work evenly in the majority of games, but it'll be interesting to see if Edwards continues to have the leg up on goal-line opportunities. Dobbins scored the lone rushing touchdown Sunday, but it came on a 12-yard run clearly designed to attack the outside of the defense. Perhaps more crucially for fantasy managers, the explosive back also was the designated receiving back, recording three receptions to Edwards' one.

  • Chargers' Gus Edwards: RBs to Sit

I'm curious to see how the Chargers use Edwards and J.K. Dobbins this week, and this could be a tough matchup for this backfield, even at home. The Raiders' addition of Christian Wilkins should dramatically improve their run defense, which was No. 9 in most Fantasy points allowed to opposing running backs last season. We know Edwards will likely need a touchdown to be a viable Fantasy option in most leagues, so if he doesn't score then you'll likely be disappointed if you consider him even a flex in Week 1.

  • Chargers' Gus Edwards: Co-starter with Dobbins

Edwards is listed as a co-starter with J.K. Dobbins on the Chargers' unofficial Week 1 depth chart heading into Sunday's game against the Raiders. Edwards and Dobbins are both familiar with the rushing scheme of Chargers offensive coordinator Greg Roman, as both running backs previously played under Roman in Baltimore. Dobbins is faster and has better hands, but Edwards should get a steady diet of inside runs and valuable goal-line work after racking up 13 rushing touchdowns with the Ravens in 2023. Kimani Vidal and Hassan Haskins are listed as the backups at running back.
