The Bengals signed Tinsley off the Texans' practice squad to the active roster Tuesday.
The Bengals needed to replenish their depth at wide receiver due to the injury absences of Andrei Iosivas (thumb, IR) and rookie fourth-rounder Colbie Young (knee), the latter of whom has already been ruled out for Week 4 against the Jaguars. Tinsley appeared in 17 regular-season games for the Bengals in 2025, finishing with an 8-117-2 receiving line on 24 targets, though he joined the Texans' practice squad Sept. 1 after failing to make Cincinnati's 53-man roster at the end of training camp. Now that he's back with the Bengals, Tinsley will contribute both on special teams and in a rotational role on offense.

The fourth-year wideout played in all 17 games for the Bengals in 2025, stringing together an 8-116-2 line on 24 targets while handling a depth role in the receiving corps. Tinsley was unable to win a spot on the Bengals' roster coming out of training camp, but he could have a clearer path to seeing playing time in Houston at some point in 2026 with Jayden Higgins (knee) out for the season and Tank Dell (knee) set to miss at least the team's first four games.

The Penn State product operated as the Bengals' No. 3 wideout Sunday while Tee Higgins (concussion) was sidelined. However, Tinsley saw just two targets, with the vast majority of Cincinnati's receiving work going to Ja'Marr Chase and Chase Brown, who combined to catch 17 of 23 targets for 169 yards. Tinsley has now recorded eight receptions on 23 targets for 116 yards and two touchdowns through 14 appearances this season. Tinsley played 53 offensive snaps (66 percent) due to Tee Higgins sitting out with a concussion. Many of his targets were contested plays, suggesting that he had a hard time gaining separation from the Ravens' defensive backs. We'll have a better idea next week whether Higgins will be ready to return from his concussion and play against the Bills.

For all of Tinsley's developments and heroics Monday night, he still faces an uphill battle to make the Bengals' 53-man roster. He would need the Bengals to keep six receivers in addition to the top five of Ja'Marr Chase, Tee Higgins, Andrei Iosivas, Jermaine Burton and Charlie Jones. It's more likely that Tinsley will be a practice squad player for the Bengals in the event of an injury, or maybe he'll put up some good reps on tape for other teams scouting the Bengals while looking for a depth piece.
