Orioles' Ryan Mountcastle: Remaining on bench Sunday
Mountcastle is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Blue Jays, Jake Rill of MLB.com reports.
It's the second straight game on the bench for Mountcastle, who has gone 2-for-19 with nine strikeouts in his past five contests. Coby Mayo is receiving another start at first base Sunday for Baltimore.

Rowdy Tellez 1B | TEX
Rangers' Rowdy Tellez: Delivers key hit in win
Tellez went 1-for-1 with a ground-rule double and an RBI in Saturday's 3-2 win over the Mets.
Tellez entered as a pinch hitter in the top of the ninth inning and belted a two-out, ground-rule double to produce the go-ahead run and complete Texas' comeback. Since Jake Burger's return in early September, Tellez's regular gig at first base has disappeared. Saturday's appearance was his fifth straight as a pinch hitter.

Nick Kurtz 1B | ATH
Athletics' Nick Kurtz: Mammoth slam in win
Kurtz went 1-for-5 with a grand slam in Saturday's 11-5 win over the Reds.
Kurtz launched a 493-foot slam -- the longest homer in the majors this year -- in the eighth inning, giving the Athletics plenty of breathing room after a quiet first four plate appearances. He's popped five homers over his last 14 games, adding 10 RBI and 13 runs scored in that span. The rookie first baseman is up to 31 long balls, 78 RBI, 78 runs scored, two stolen bases, 24 doubles and two triples while maintaining a .298/.391/.622 slash line across 104 contests.

Coby Mayo 3B | BAL
Orioles' Coby Mayo: Swats eighth homer Saturday
Mayo went 2-for-4 with a solo home run Saturday in a loss to the Blue Jays.
Mayo produced what at the time seemed like a big insurance run for Baltimore when he clubbed a 403-foot solo shot in the top of the ninth inning. That tally ultimately proved to be inadequate, however, as Toronto rallied for three runs in the bottom frame for a walk-off win. Mayo nonetheless had a promising performance, as he logged his first two-hit game since Aug. 6. In the 28 contests between such efforts, he batted a meager .141 with a 38.9 percent strikeout rate.

Christian Walker 1B | HOU
Astros' Christian Walker: Smacks two-run homer
Walker went 2-for-4 with a two-run homer and an additional run scored during Houston's 6-2 win over Atlanta on Saturday.
Walker extended the Astros' lead to 6-0 in the third inning with a two-run shot off Bryce Elder. It was Walker's 23rd homer of the season, which is three shy from his 2024 total. He has gone 12-for-46 (.261) with one steal, two home runs, six RBI and eight runs scored in 12 games since the start of September.

Ryan Mountcastle 1B | BAL
Orioles' Ryan Mountcastle: Idle Saturday
Mountcastle isn't in the lineup for Saturday's game against Toronto.
Mountcastle will take a seat Saturday after going 0-for-4 with a strikeout in Friday's series opener. Coby Mayo will start at first base and bat ninth.

Romy Gonzalez 2B | BOS
Red Sox's Romy Gonzalez: Returning Saturday
Gonzalez (knee) will start at first base and bat leadoff against the Yankees on Saturday, Tim Healey of The Boston Globe reports.
Left knee soreness kept Gonzalez from playing in Boston's last two games, but he's been cleared to return to action Saturday. The 29-year-old is currently enjoying a 12-game hitting streak, during which he's slashed .455/.444/.545 with nine RBI and five runs scored.

Kody Clemens 1B | MIN
Twins' Kody Clemens: First career multi-homer game
Clemens went 4-for-4 with three home runs, five RBI, a double and an additional run scored in a 9-8 win over Arizona on Friday.
It was the first career multi-homer game for Clemens, who also established a career high in RBI. The lefty-hitting Clemens should continue to see the bulk of the reps at first base for the Twins to wrap up the campaign, especially if he continues to perform well. While he's hitting just .236 over his last 17 outings, Clemens has six big flies, one double and 10 RBI over that stretch to improve his OPS to .740 for the season.

Niko Kavadas 1B | LAA
Angels' Niko Kavadas: Loses 40-man spot
The Angels designated Kavadas for assignment Friday.
The Angels sent Kavadas to Triple-A on Sept. 4 after he went just 2-for-20 with 10 strikeouts during his time in the majors, and the team will now strip him of his place on the 40-man roster as well. This creates space for Chad Wallach to join the active roster as catcher depth to replace Travis d'Arnaud (concussion).
