Tigers' Spencer Torkelson: Extends hitting streak
Torkelson went 2-for-5 with a double, a run scored and two RBI in Friday's win over the Angels.
Torkelson extended his hitting streak to six games, a span in which he's gone 9-for-27 with a home run and seven RBI. Overall this month, the youngster is batting a robust .397 with four home runs and 14 RBI across 13 contests. Torkelson is trending up as he nears the end of his second MLB campaign.

Kole Calhoun 1B | CLE
Guardians' Kole Calhoun: Pops homer Friday
Calhoun went 1-for-5 with a two-run home run in Friday's 12-3 win over the Rangers.
Calhoun was able to contribute the Guardians' last two runs in a win over the team he suited up for in 2022. He had a solid run of playing time in August, but he's started to falter in September, going 7-for-45 (.156) with two homers and five RBI over 13 contests this month. Overall, he's at a .230/.307/.393 slash line with five long balls, 20 RBI, 15 runs scored and five doubles through 33 contests. He should be a regular in the lineup versus right-handed pitchers, but with the Guardians' hitters at essentially full health, he may not have a chance at an everyday role down the stretch.

Josh Naylor 1B | SEA
Guardians' Josh Naylor: Collects four hits, drives in three
Naylor went 4-for-5 with one double, three RBI and one run scored in Friday's victory over the Rangers.
Naylor struck out in his first at-bat but was outstanding the rest of the night, and on the season he now has a .312 batting average with 91 RBI. Naylor is in the midst of a full-fledged breakout in his third big-league season as Friday marked the fourth time he has had four hits in a game and the 12th time he's recorded at least three RBI this season. He's just short of the number of at-bats necessary to qualify for the American League batting title, but currently ranks behind only Corey Seager and Yandy Diaz in that department.

Nolan Schanuel 1B | LAA
Angels' Nolan Schanuel: Resting Friday
Schanuel is not in Friday's lineup against the Tigers, Evan Webeck of The San Jose Mercury News reports.
Schanuel will hit the bench after starting three consecutive games. He recently recovered from a shoulder injury, so the team may take a cautious approach and give him extra time off across the final few weeks of the regular season. The Angels shuffled the lineup in Schanuel's absence, with the end result being Kyren Paris hitting leadoff and playing center field.

Triston Casas 1B | BOS
Red Sox's Triston Casas: Out with sore shoulder
Casas was scratched from the lineup Friday at Toronto due to right shoulder soreness, Jen McCaffrey of The Athletic reports.
Casas may have tweaked his shoulder at some point during Thursday's doubleheader against the Yankees, but the issue is not considered serious and he should be viewed as day-to-day leading into the remainder of Boston's weekend series versus the Blue Jays. Justin Turner is starting at first base Friday as Masataka Yoshida fills the DH role, while Ceddanne Rafaela enters the lineup in center field and hits leadoff.

Triston Casas 1B | BOS
Red Sox's Triston Casas: Scratched from lineup Friday
Casas was scratched from the lineup Friday at Toronto for undisclosed reasons.
Justin Turner will start at first base as Masataka Yoshida shifts to the DH role and Ceddanne Rafaela is added to the mix in center field. There is no word yet as to what prompted the Red Sox to scratch Casas from Friday's series opener against the Blue Jays, but he played all 18 innings of Thursday's doubleheader against the Yankees.

Ryan Mountcastle 1B | BAL
Orioles' Ryan Mountcastle: Out with sore shoulder
Mountcastle (shoulder) is out of the lineup again Friday against the Rays.
Imaging scans taken Thursday on Mountcastle's left shoulder revealed no structural damage, but he'll grab a second straight day of rest and treatment as Ryan O'Hearn handles first base. Heston Kjerstad is serving as the Orioles' designated hitter.

Ryan O'Hearn 1B | PIT
Orioles' Ryan O'Hearn: Goes yard in loss
O'Hearn went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Thursday's 4-3 loss to the Rays.
O'Hearn's blast was one of only four hits for the Orioles in the game, and he struck out in his other three at-bats. With Ryan Mountcastle nursing a shoulder injury, O'Hearn may get more playing time at first base in the coming days, although top prospect Heston Kjerstad has also joined the big-league roster and figures to be in the 1B/DH mix. O'Hearn has maintained a solid September so far, going 11-for-35 (.314) with two homers and nine RBI across 10 games. He's slashing .299/.330/.505 with 13 long balls, 54 RBI, 42 runs scored and four stolen bases through 309 plate appearances this season.

Vladimir Guerrero Jr. 1B | TOR
Blue Jays' Vladimir Guerrero: Slugs 22nd homer
Guerrero went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run in Thursday's loss to the Rangers.
The first baseman gave Toronto an early lead when he took Nathan Eovaldi deep in the first inning, but Texas surged ahead in the top of the second and never looked back. Guerrero is scuffling again in September, slashing .224/.333/.388 through 13 games with two of his 22 homers, but with 86 RBI on the season and 15 games left on the Blue Jays' schedule, he still has an outside shot at his second career 100-RBI campaign.

Andrew Vaughn 1B | MIL
White Sox's Andrew Vaughn: Reaches 20 homers
Vaughn went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run Thursday in a loss to the Twins.
Vaughn kept the White Sox from getting shut out with his two-run blast to left field in the seventh inning. The long ball was his 20th of the campaign, marking the first time he has reached that number in three seasons as a major-leaguer. Vaughn has added a career-high 63 runs and needs just one more RBI to tie the career-best mark of 76 he established last year.
