  • Juan Yepez 1B | TOR

Nationals' Juan Yepez: Not in Wednesday's lineup

Yepez is absent from the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Royals, Mark Zuckerman of MASNSports.com reports.

Andres Chaparro (personal) is away on paternity leave, but Luis Garcia will get another start at designated hitter, which leaves no room in the lineup for Yepez. Yepez had started seven of the previous eight contests, although he's seen his playing time drop in September on the whole.

  • Padres' Jake Cronenworth: Goes deep Tuesday

Cronenworth went 2-for-4 with a two-run homer, a double and three RBI in Tuesday's win over the Dodgers.

Cronenworth powered the San Diego offense with a two-run blast in the second inning and an RBI double in the fourth. He's now got two multi-hit efforts over his last four games and his home run was his first of the month. It's been a struggle overall in September for Cronenworth, who's now slashing just .206/.342/.286 with three extra-base hits, three RBI, five runs, a steal and a 13:14 BB:K in 77 plate appearances this month.

  • Jonah Bride 3B | TEX

Marlins' Jonah Bride: Homer in three-hit effort

Bride went 3-for-5 with a solo home run in Tuesday's 4-1 win over the Twins.

Bride has gone yard three times over his last nine games, batting .324 (11-for-34) in that span. The 28-year-old is up to nine homers this season, all of which he's hit since July 31 since becoming a steady part of the Marlins' lineup. He's added a solid .264/.349/.429 slash line, 32 RBI, 27 runs scored and eight doubles across 66 contests.

  • Michael Busch 3B | CHC

Cubs' Michael Busch: Exits after HBP

Busch was removed from Tuesday's game against the Phillies after getting hit in the arm by a pitch, Meghan Montemurro of the Chicago Tribune reports.

Busch was able to remain in the game to run the bases after getting plunked, but he didn't take the field once the Cubs went back out on defense. He managed to escape the incident with only a bruise, per Montemurro, making it unlikely he sits down for an extended period of time.

  • Pirates' Rowdy Tellez: DFA'd by Pittsburgh

The Pirates designated Tellez for assignment Tuesday.

Tellez slashed .310/.347/.533 from the beginning of June through the end of August, but he's hit only .116/.255/.209 in September and had been seeing his playing time dwindle. The Pirates have elected to move on from the veteran now and give his at-bats to others. Billy Cook is at first base for the Pirates on Tuesday and should share that spot with Connor Joe and Jared Triolo in the final week.

  • Pirates' Rowdy Tellez: Out again versus righty

Tellez is not in the lineup for Tuesday's contest against the Brewers.

This is the fifth time over the Pirates' last 10 games versus righties that Tellez has been out of the lineup, as the club is getting a look at some younger players down the stretch. Billy Cook will handle first base Tuesday.

  • Diamondbacks' Christian Walker: Returns to lineup Monday

Walker went 1-for-4 with a double and an RBI in Monday's 6-3 loss to the Giants.

Walker was back in the lineup after getting a day off Sunday. Arizona manager Torey Lovullo talked to Alex Weiner of Arizona Sports on Monday about giving Walker time off following his return from an oblique injury. "Yesterday I took [Christian] Walker out of the lineup... It's probably about three or four days too late to give him a day off, talking to the medical team," Lovullo said. Walker should be available for the final five games of the season.

  • Mark Canha LF | TEX

Giants' Mark Canha: Logs steal in win

Canha went 2-for-4 with a stolen base in Monday's 6-3 win over the Diamondbacks.

Canha hasn't seen much more than a short-side platoon role since he was traded from the Tigers to the Giants at the deadline. He's batting .282 with San Francisco, though he has just two extra-base hits (both doubles) and four RBI across 30 games with the team. Overall, Canha has a .240/.343/.343 slash line with seven home runs, 42 RBI, 45 runs scored and seven stolen bases through 123 games this season.

  • LaMonte Wade 1B | CHW

Giants' LaMonte Wade: Out against left-hander

Wade is absent from the lineup for Monday's game in Arizona.

Southpaw Eduardo Rodriguez is on the hill for the Diamondbacks, so the left-handed-hitting Wade will yield to Mark Canha at first base. Though he's slashing .333/.439/.424 over 42 plate appearances versus lefties this season, Wade has just three starts against left-handers in 2024.

  • Rhys Hoskins 1B | CLE

Brewers' Rhys Hoskins: Drives in three runs

Hoskins went 2-for-4 with a walk, a double, three RBI and two runs during Sunday's 10-9 win against Arizona.

The first baseman delivered in the clutch Sunday with an RBI double in the seventh and a game-tying, two-run single in the ninth to help Milwaukee erase an eight-run deficit. Hoskins continues to carry a hot bat and has a .321/.406/.607 slash line with two homers over his past nine games, though he also has a 46.9 percent strikeout rate during that stretch.
