  • Alfonso Rivas 1B | STL

Cubs' Alfonso Rivas: Reaches twice, scores Thursday

Rivas went 0-for-1 with two walks and a run scored in Thursday's 5-1 loss to Atlanta.

Rivas batted sixth and provided Chicago's lone run in this one. The 25-year-old is off to a great start with a .462 average and 1.332 OPS across 13 at-bats. Those numbers are certain to come down, but Rivas is at least making a case for more playing time. As a left-handed hitter, he could push his way into a platoon at first base with righty Frank Schwindel.

  • Donovan Solano 1B | TEX

Reds' Donovan Solano: Shut down following injection

Solano (hamstring) received a PRP injection Tuesday and has been shut down from running for five to seven days, Charlie Goldsmith of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.

The veteran infielder has been out all year after injuring his left hamstring in late March. While initial reports suggested he wouldn't required a long stay on the injured list, things evidently haven't gone as planned. He'll still have to ramp back up after he's allowed to resume running, so his season debut is likely at least still a few weeks away.

  • Brewers' Rowdy Tellez: Sitting out against lefty

Tellez is out of the lineup for Thursday's game against the Pirates.

The lefty-hitting Tellez will retreat to the bench for the series finale with southpaw Jose Quintana taking the hill for Pittsburgh. Platoon mate Keston Hiura will step in for Tellez at first base.

  • Matt Beaty 1B | KC

Padres' Matt Beaty: Filling in for Myers

Beaty will start in right field and bat sixth in Thursday's game against the Reds.

After going hitless in four plate appearances during Wednesday's 8-5 win, Beaty will pick up a second straight start in right field in place of the injured Wil Myers. If Myers' right thumb and index finger injuries end up forcing him to the injured list, the lefty-hitting Beaty would likely occupy the larger side of a platoon in right field.

  • C.J. Cron 1B | BOS

Rockies' C.J. Cron: Homers in loss

Cron went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in a 7-3 loss Wednesday in Philadelphia.

Cron homered off Ranger Suarez with two outs in the sixth. It was the first home run in over a week for the National League leader in home runs and RBI. Over his last six games, he is just 4-for-23. Despite that, he still has a .969 OPS and is having an excellent start to 2022.

  • Padres' Jake Cronenworth: Knocks in three runs Tuesday

Cronenworth went 2-for-5 with a triple, a run and three RBI in a 9-6 win over Cincinnati on Tuesday.

Cronenworth came up with a bases-clearing triple in the fourth inning that appeared to put the game out of reach, though it ultimately proved to be the difference as the Reds stormed back from a 9-1 deficit but fell three runs short. Cronenworth recently went through a seven-game 0-for-23 stretch but has perked up over his past three contests, going 5-for-12 with a homer and four RBI over that stretch.

  • Pete Alonso 1B | BAL

    Mets' Pete Alonso: Starting Wednesday

Alonso is starting Wednesday's game against the Cardinals.

Alonso was hit in the head by a pitch during Tuesday's win over the Cardinals, but he'll remain in the lineup for Wednesday's series finale. He's started every game this year and is hitting .257 with three homers, 16 RBI and nine runs.

  • Giants' Wilmer Flores: Homers, drives in four

Flores went 2-for-4 with a three-run home run, a double and an additional run and RBI in an 8-2 win against the Athletics on Tuesday.

Flores opened the scoring with a second-inning double and tacked on a three-run shot during his next at-bat in the third. The long ball was the veteran infielder's second of the season and helped continue an impressive four-game stretch in which Flores has gone 7-for-16 with two walks, two doubles and a home run. His current .283/.333/.467 slash line is in line with his numbers from his first two seasons in San Francisco.

  • Kevin Padlo 1B | LAD

Giants' Kevin Padlo: Acquired by San Francisco

Padlo was traded from the Mariners to the Giants on Tuesday in exchange for cash considerations, Evan Webeck of The San Jose Mercury News reports.

Padlo was designated for assignment by Seattle over the weekend, and San Francisco opted to acquire him via trade rather that risk a waiver claim. The 25-year-old has a .173/.317/.327 slash line through 15 games at Triple-A this season and will provide organizational infield depth for the Giants.

  • Josh Bell DH | MIN

    Nationals' Josh Bell: Re-enters lineup

Bell (hamstring) will start at first base and bat cleanup in Tuesday's game against the Marlins.

Bell was held out of Sunday's 12-3 loss to the Giants after tweaking his right hamstring in Saturday's game, but the day out of the lineup plus Monday's off day evidently provided enough time for him to heal up from the injury. The Nationals could look to use Bell as a designated hitter at some point the next few days to get him off his feet, but he otherwise looks like he'll be in store for a full slate of at-bats during the Nationals' six-game week.
