  • Giants' Wilmer Flores: Swats late homer

Flores went 1-for-3 with a solo home run and a walk Tuesday in a loss to the Brewers.

Flores' ninth-inning solo shot served as a small protest against a loss that cut the Giants' lead over the Dodgers in the NL West to half a game. The long ball was the 17th of the season for the veteran, and he is only one homer shy of the career-high 18 he amassed with the Mets in 2017. Flores finished August with a .240/.269/.427 slash line, four homers and eight RBI over 26 games.

  • Jose Abreu 1B | HOU

White Sox's Jose Abreu: Goes deep in victory

Abreu went 2-for-4 with a solo home run and two runs scored in Tuesday's victory over the Pirates.

The 34-year-old blasted his 28th homer of the season in the third inning off Bryse Wilson. The first baseman has now collected a hit in seven straight games, notching 13 hits in 28 at-bats with three home runs and three doubles over that stretch. On the season, Abreu is at 102 RBI, marking the sixth time he has eclipsed 100 RBI in eight seasons. He'll have an outside shot at topping his career high of 123 RBI with 29 games remaining this year.

  • Luke Voit 1B | NYM

Yankees' Luke Voit: Sitting again Tuesday

Voit is out of the lineup Tuesday against the Angels.

Voit finds himself on the bench for the second straight day after being in the starting nine for the previous three games. Brett Gardner will again start in the outfield while Giancarlo Stanton serves as the designated hitter.

  • Dominic Smith 1B | ATL

    Mets' Dominic Smith: Sitting nightcap

Smith is out of the lineup for Tuesday's regularly-scheduled game against the Marlins.

Smith remained in the lineup for the resumption of the suspended game Tuesday afternoon, and he'll head to the bench for the nightcap after going 2-for-4 with a run scored. Jeff McNeil will work in left field while J.D. Davis starts at the hot corner.

  • Ryan O'Hearn RF | PIT

Royals' Ryan O'Hearn: Takes seat Tuesday

O'Hearn is not in the lineup for Tuesday's game against Cleveland.

An 0-for-4 effort Monday lowered O'Hearn's average to .167 with two doubles and three runs in his last 10 games. Hunter Dozier is the designated hitter Tuesday, with Edward Olivares getting a start in right field.

  • Carlos Santana 1B | ARI

Royals' Carlos Santana: Returns to lineup

Santana (hip) is batting cleanup and playing first base Tuesday against Cleveland.

An aggravation of his hip injury caused Santana to miss a couple contests, but he's back in action for Tuesday's series opener. Santana's hitting .262 with four doubles in his last 10 games, largely due to a four-hit effort Aug. 22 against the Cubs.

  • Anthony Rizzo 1B | NYY

Yankees' Anthony Rizzo: Scores three times Monday

Rizzo went 2-for-4 with a double, a walk an RBI and three runs scored in Monday's 8-7 loss to the Angels.

Rizzo got things rolling quickly Monday with an RBI double to left his first time up to give the Yankees an early 1-0 lead. He would later score that inning and scored each of the two other times he reached base. Rizzo had been struggling to a .156/.222/.188 slash line over the last nine games entering Monday's contest since returning from the COVID-19 injured list Aug. 18. The team is hoping it can continue to roll with him at first base but the Yankees have Luke Voit on deck if Rizzo's struggles persist.

  • Blue Jays' Vladimir Guerrero: Goes yard twice Monday

Guerrero went 2-for-4 with two home runs and four RBI in Monday's 7-3 win over the Orioles.

The young slugger followed up a fourth-inning solo shot with a three-run blast in the seventh, as he opened and closed the scoring on the night for the Jays. Guerrero had only one homer in his prior 19 games and hadn't had a multi-homer performance since the first day after the All-Star break, but he still sports a .313/.407/.599 slash line on the season with 38 home runs, 95 RBI and an MLB-leading 97 runs.

  • Orioles' Ryan Mountcastle: Belts homer No. 25

Mountcastle went 2-for-3 with a walk, a home run, two runs scored and two RBI in Monday's 7-3 loss to the Blue Jays.

He gave the O's an early 1-0 lead with a solo shot off Robbie Ray in the first inning. Mountcastle has gone yard in back-to-back games and six times in 13 contests since returning to action from a concussion in mid-August. He sports a .269/.316/.504 slash line with 25 homers and 73 RBI through 114 games this season.

  • Bobby Dalbec 1B | CHW

Red Sox's Bobby Dalbec: Homers again

Dalbec went 1-for-3 with a walk and a solo home run in Monday's 6-1 loss to the Rays.

Dalbec's bat has come alive of late. The rookie corner infielder has hit in five consecutive games, including four homers over the last four. He's been Boston's primary first baseman, but hitting woes throughout the season prompted a platoon that limited him to left-handers at various points. That hasn't been the case the last two games, though, as Dalbec started against righties Sunday and Monday, likely due to a resurgent bat. He's hit .345 during the month of August and climbed to .238 for the season, his highest point since mid-April.
