  • Pete Alonso 1B | BAL

Mets' Pete Alonso: Goes yard twice in win

Alonso went 3-for-5 with two home runs, three RBI and three runs scored Thursday against the Rockies.

Alonso touched up Colorado starter Austin Gomber for both homers, capping a four-run first inning with a two-run blast, then launching a second dinger off the lefty in the third. It was Alonso's second multi-homer game of the season and his fourth game with at least three RBI. The slugging first baseman is now slashing .246/.331/.476 with 51 extra-base hits including 25 homers, 63 RBI, 67 runs and 49 walks across 493 plate appearances.

  • Ben Rice 1B | NYY

Yankees' Ben Rice: Out versus southpaw

Rice is not in the lineup for Thursday's contest against the Angels.

It's southpaw Tyler Anderson toeing the rubber for the Angels, so the left-handed hitting Rice will take a seat. DJ LeMahieu is handling first base for the Yankees.

  • Ty France 1B | SD

    Reds' Ty France: Sitting Thursday

France isn't in the Reds' lineup for Thursday's game against the Marlins.

France will get a breather Thursday after going 6-for-26 with two homers through his first seven games as a Red. Spencer Steer will get the starting nod at first base instead while Will Benson covers left field.

  • Justin Turner 1B | CHC

Mariners' Justin Turner: Reaches twice in return from injury

Turner (hand) started at first base in Wednesday's loss to the Tigers and went 1-for-3 with a walk.

The veteran infielder was able to avoid missing any games after getting plunked on his left hand in Tuesday's game. Turner snapped a brief 0-for-6 skid that had encompassed his previous two contests with Wednesday's production, and he boasts a .362 average and .913 OPS across 15 games since the All-Star break, with six of those games coming with the Mariners.

  • Dodgers' Freddie Freeman: Plates three runs Wednesday

Freeman went 2-for-4 with three RBI in Wednesday's loss to the Phillies.

The Dodgers went 3-for-13 as a team with runners in scoring position, but Freeman was 2-for-2, stroking a run-scoring single in the first inning and a two-run single in the second. It was the first baseman's third game back since missing eight contests to attend to a family matter, and he hasn't shown any rust since returning, going 4-for-12 with at least one hit in each game. While Freeman's season numbers (.287/.392/.491 slash line, 16 homers, five steals) are mostly down in comparison to last year, he's at 67 RBI through 464 plate appearances, giving him a reasonable shot to reach 100 RBI for the third consecutive campaign.

  • Nationals' Juan Yepez: Productive in Wednesday's loss

Yepez went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run and a stolen base in Wednesday's 7-4 loss to the Giants.

The first baseman took Blake Snell deep in the third inning, briefly giving the Nationals a 3-2 lead that quickly evaporated. Yepez hasn't gone consecutive games without a hit since being added to the Nationals' roster in early July, and in 117 plate appearances over that stretch he's slashing .330/.380/.523 with 12 doubles, three homers, two steals, 16 RBI and 17 runs.

  • Rhys Hoskins 1B | CLE

Brewers' Rhys Hoskins: Day off Thursday

Hoskins is not in the lineup for Thursday's game in Atlanta.

It's a routine day off for Hoskins, who picked up five hits in the first two games of the series. The Brewers will go with Jake Bauers at first base and William Contreras in the designated-hitter spot Thursday as they go for the sweep.

  • LaMonte Wade 1B | CHW

Giants' LaMonte Wade: Out against left-hander

Wade is absent from the lineup for Thursday's contest versus the Nationals, Shayna Rubin of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

Southpaw DJ Herz is on the hill for the Nationals, so the lefty-hitting Wade will give way to Mark Canha at first base. Wade has gone just 6-for-34 at the plate over his last 10 games.

  • Josh Naylor 1B | SEA

Guardians' Josh Naylor: Reaches 25-homer mark

Naylor went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in a 7-3 loss to the Diamondbacks in the first game of Wednesday's doubleheader.

Naylor reached the 25-homer mark with his fifth-inning solo shot. The first baseman also played in the second game, going 0-for-3 with a walk and a run scored. Naylor had some cold stretches in July, but he's gone 13-for-40 (.325) with five extra-base hits and 11 RBI over his last 11 contests. For the year, he's slashing .246/.326/.483 with 82 RBI, 65 runs scored, five stolen bases and 18 doubles over 106 games.

  • Royals' Vinnie Pasquantino: Goes yard again

Pasquantino went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run in Wednesday's 8-4 win over the Red Sox.

Pasquantino has hit six of his 17 homers for the year over his last eight games, and he's hit safely in 11 straight contests, going 17-for-47 (.362) in that span. The first baseman has 22 RBI since the All-Star break, ranking second in the majors to only Arizona's Ketel Marte. For the season, Pasquantino is slashing .270/.324/.463 with 84 RBI, 53 runs scored, 25 doubles and a stolen base over 112 contests. He's fully put his poor start to the year behind him and is now looking like a great run producer while batting right behind a potential MVP candidate in Bobby Witt.
