Michael Busch 3B | CHC
Cubs' Michael Busch: Homers in win Wednesday
Busch went 2-for-3 with a walk, a solo home run and an additional run scored in Wednesday's 8-2 win over the Twins.
After going 0-for-4 with four strikeouts in Monday's game against his hometown team, Busch ended the series on a high note. The first baseman clobbered his 16th home run of the season and fourth in his last 10 games. If he can stay healthy, Busch seems primed to reach the 20-homer plateau for the first time in his young career in what's been a nice debut campaign with the Cubs.

Ben Rice 1B | NYY
Yankees' Ben Rice: Not starting Game 2
Rice isn't in the Yankees' lineup for the second game of Wednesday's doubleheader versus the Angels.
Rice went 0-for-2 with two walks and a run scored during the Yankees' victory in Game 1, and he'll now sit down for the second half of Wednesday's twin bill. DJ LeMahieu will get the starting nod at first base instead and bat eighth.

Paul Goldschmidt 1B | NYY
Cardinals' Paul Goldschmidt: Taking seat Wednesday amid slump
Goldschmidt is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Rays.
Alec Burleson will step in at first base while Goldschmidt exits the starting lineup for the first time since July 13, when he hit the bench for the first game of a doubleheader. After his bat had begun to heat up coming out of the All-Star break, Goldschmidt has started slumping again; he's gone 0-for-7 with seven punchouts against three walks over his last five games.

Justin Turner 1B | CHC
Mariners' Justin Turner: In Wednesday's lineup
Turner (hand) will start at first base and bat fourth Wednesday against the Tigers, Shannon Drayer of SeattleSports.com reports.
Turner was pulled from Tuesday's contest after taking a pitch off his left hand, but his bruise won't keep him out of Wednesday's game. The 39-year-old veteran has been hot since the All-Star break, slashing .364/.407/.509 with two homers and eight RBI across 59 plate appearances.

Jake Bauers RF | MIL
Brewers' Jake Bauers: Heading to bench versus lefty
Bauers is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against Atlanta.
The Brewers are facing off against a left-hander (Chris Sale) for the fourth time in six games, and the lefty-hitting Bauers has found himself on the bench for each of those contests. He still looks to have a hold on a strong-side platoon role while Christian Yelich (back) is on the shelf, but Bauers will cede his spot in the lineup to Gary Sanchez on Wednesday.

Dominic Smith 1B | SF
Red Sox's Dominic Smith: Taking seat Wednesday
Smith is not in the lineup for Wednesday's contest in Kansas City, Pete Abraham of The Boston Globe reports.
With southpaw Cole Ragans on the bump for the Royals, the left-handed-hitting Smith will take a seat. Connor Wong will get a start at first base in place of Smith.

Jake Cronenworth 1B | SD
Padres' Jake Cronenworth: Absent versus lefty
Cronenworth is not in the lineup for Wednesday's contest in Pittsburgh, Jeff Sanders of The San Diego Union-Tribune reports.
Southpaw Marco Gonzales is toeing the rubber for the Pirates, offering the Padres a chance to give the left-handed-hitting Cronenworth a day of rest. Donovan Solano will occupy first base in his stead.

Tyler Nevin 3B | ATH
Athletics' Tyler Nevin: Scratched from lineup with migraine
Nevin was scratched from Wednesday's lineup versus the White Sox due to a migraine, Martin Gallegos of MLB.com reports.
Armando Alvarez will slide in at first base as Nevin's replacement. The Athletics have a scheduled off day Thursday, which should give Nevin a shot to be ready in time for their weekend series in Toronto.

Tyler Locklear 3B | ARI
Mariners' Tyler Locklear: Hot bat since return to Tacoma
Locklear owns a .409 average and 1.162 OPS with a double, two home runs, five RBI, a walk and seven runs over the 23 plate appearances he's logged with Triple-A Tacoma since being optioned July 30.
The rookie's latest stint with the Mariners lasted just five games and 17 plate appearances, a stretch during which Locklear produced an .067 average and mammoth 47.1 percent strikeout rate. However, Locklear has looked right back in his element with the Rainiers, producing multi-hit efforts in three of his past four contests. While Justin Turner (hand) has taken a hold of the everyday role at first base since his trade to Seattle, it's still conceivable Locklear gets another look at the big-league level down the stretch if he continues to perform in a similar fashion at Tacoma.

Jonathan Singleton DH | HOU
Astros' Jon Singleton: Absent from lineup
Singleton is not in the lineup for Wednesday's game versus the Rangers, Brian McTaggart of MLB.com reports.
Zach Dezenzo is getting the call at first base in Singleton's place, and the rookie could have an opportunity to overtake the veteran on the depth chart down the stretch. Singleton has slashed just .232/.316/.355 in 89 contests with the Astros this season.
