  • Ryan O'Hearn 1B | PIT

Orioles' Ryan O'Hearn: On bench versus lefty

O'Hearn is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Mets.

The lefty-hitting O'Hearn will hit the bench with southpaw Jose Quintana toeing the rubber for the Mets. Ryan Mountcastle will start at first base and bat second in O'Hearn's stead.

  • Andrew Vaughn 1B | MIL

White Sox's Andrew Vaughn: Idle Sunday

Vaughn is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Guardians, Daryl Van Schouwen of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.

Vaughn will head to the bench in what appears to be a rest day for the series finale after he started in each of the last seven games while going 8-for-25 with two home runs, one double, two runs and three RBI. Gavin Sheets will spell Vaughn at first base.

  • Spencer Steer 1B | CIN

Reds' Spencer Steer: Moves to left field

Steer started in left field and went 0-for-4 in Saturday's 7-3 loss to the Nationals.

Steer made a second straight start in left field, as the Reds placed Jake Fraley on the injured list with a fractured toe. Steer is no stranger to left field, as he's often started there when Fraley sat against left-handers, but if he's called on to play more in the outfield, third base becomes a rotation of players. On Friday, Kevin Newman started at third followed by Saturday's starter Nick Senzel. Once Jonathan India (foot) is ready to return, Elly De La Cruz should start most games at the hot corner.

  • Dodgers' Freddie Freeman: Nabs 15th steal

Freeman went 1-for-4 with one RBI and a stolen base in Saturday's 8-3 loss to the Padres.

Freeman didn't run much for the bulk of July, but he's now logged three steals over his last six games to get to 15 thefts on the year. He's hit .386 (44-for-114) since the start of July, even better than his .337 batting average for the season. The first baseman has added a 1.003 OPS, 22 home runs, 77 RBI, 95 runs scored, 40 doubles and two triples through 109 games.

  • Padres' Brandon Dixon: Removed from 40-man roster

Dixon cleared waivers and was outrighted to Triple-A El Paso on Saturday.

Dixon was optioned to Triple-A in mid-July and has now lost his place on San Diego's 40-man roster after the organization's additions at the trade deadline. The 31-year-old has made 33 appearances with the Friars this year and has posted a .573 OPS in 79 at-bats.

  • Michael Toglia 1B | COL

Rockies' Michael Toglia: On bench Saturday

Toglia is out of the lineup for Saturday's game against the Cardinals.

Alan Trejo will get a rare turn in the starting lineup as Toglia heads to the bench after six consecutive starts. Toglia's been in a bad way at the plate, managing just four singles while striking out 12 times in his last 25 at-bats, but the Rockies are in full-blown evaluation mode and the 24-year-old Toglia likely still has some leash in a regular role.

  • Ryan O'Hearn 1B | PIT

Orioles' Ryan O'Hearn: Logs second steal

O'Hearn went 1-for-3 with an RBI, a stolen base and a run scored in Friday's 10-3 win over the Mets.

O'Hearn has gone 7-for-21 (.333) with four RBI and two doubles over his last six games. The 30-year-old had seen a lot of time at first base in recent weeks, but the resurgence of Ryan Mountcastle has forced manager Brandon Hyde to get creative with where O'Hearn fits. He's made his last two starts in right field, though there's also a need to fit Anthony Santander and Colton Cowser into the mix on occasion. O'Hearn has a .306/.344/.513 slash line with nine home runs, two steals, 37 RBI and 27 runs scored through 209 plate appearances this year.

  • Brewers' Rowdy Tellez: Rehab stint on tap

Manager Craig Counsell said Friday that Tellez (finger/forearm) is scheduled to begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A Nashville on Tuesday, Todd Rosiak of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.

The 28-year-old had the stitches removed from his fractured left ring finger July 25 and has been cleared for game action after ramping up his baseball activities over the past week and a half. Tellez initially landed on the shelf in early July with forearm inflammation, but that injury no longer appears to be a concern. Depending how many games he'll require during the rehab assignment, Tellez could be back with the Brewers as early as next weekend's three-game series against the White Sox.

  • Luke Raley RF | SEA

Rays' Luke Raley: Out again Saturday

Raley (bruised knee) is not in Saturday's lineup against the Tigers.

Raley exited Wednesday's game with a right knee contusion and has not played since then. Harold Ramirez gets the start at designated hitter while batting fifth.

  • Jose Abreu 1B | HOU

Astros' Jose Abreu: Rare day off Saturday

Abreu is not in Saturday's lineup against the Yankees.

Abreu hasn't had a day off since June 23. He is hitting .216 with two home runs over his last 10 games. Grae Kessinger is starting at first base and hitting eighth.
