Brewers' Rowdy Tellez: Getting stitches removed Tuesday
Tellez (forearm) said that he'll have 17 stitches removed from his fractured ring finger Tuesday, and he expects to resume swinging a bat as soon as Wednesday, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports.
Tellez was initially placed on the 10-day injured list July 5 with right forearm inflammation, but he appeared on pace to get activated at some point this past week before he fractured his ring finger while shagging a fly ball July 15. Now one week into an expected 3-to-4-week recovery, Tellez looks to be progressing as anticipated but still has a few more hurdles to clear before his return can be considered imminent. Owen Miller will likely continue to serve as the Brewers' primary first baseman until Tellez is back in the fold.

Anthony Rizzo 1B | NYY
Yankees' Anthony Rizzo: Four hits, home run in win
Rizzo went 4-for-4 with a double, a home run, two RBI and three runs scored in Sunday's 8-5 victory over Kansas City.
It was a huge day for Rizzo after he'd gone just 1-for-21 over his last five games. His home run, a solo shot off Jordan Lyles in the third inning, was his first since May 20, ending a 45-game drought. It's certainly the type of game the Yankees needed from the 33-year-old Rizzo, who came into the game batting just .154 with a .459 OPS in 38 games since the start of June. Overall, he's slashing .253/.338/.398 with 44 runs scored and 41 RBI through 390 plate appearances this season.

Spencer Torkelson 1B | DET
Tigers' Spencer Torkelson: Homers Sunday
Torkelson went 2-for-3 with a solo home run in Sunday's victory over the Padres.
After going 0-for-10 in his previous three games, Torkelson opened the scoring in the first inning Sunday with a solo homer off Joe Musgrove, his 15th long ball of the year. The 23-year-old Torkelson has been productive of late, even with his recent cold spell -- he's gone 18-for-70 (.257) with an .835 OPS in 18 games since the start of July. Overall, the first baseman is slashing .230/.307/.414 with 53 RBI and 49 runs scored through 417 plate appearances in his sophomore campaign.

Paul Goldschmidt 1B | NYY
Cardinals' Paul Goldschmidt: Not starting Sunday
Goldschmidt is out of the lineup for Sunday's game versus the Cubs, Jeff Jones of the Belleville News-Democrat reports.
Goldschmidt has a .586 OPS over his past five games and will take a seat Sunday after starting the past 11 contests. Alec Burleson will step in at first base and bat fifth.

Andrew Vaughn 1B | MIL
White Sox's Andrew Vaughn: Still targeting Tuesday return
Vaughn (foot) is showing improvement and remains hopeful to return to the lineup Tuesday against the Cubs, Daryl Van Schouwen of the Chicago Sun-Times reports. "He tried to hit a little bit but he's still sore. We'll wait and see how he is [Monday], and make a decision," manager Pedro Grifol said.
Though the White Sox are maintaining optimism that Vaughn will be ready to go for the series opener versus the North Siders, the team seemingly hasn't ruled out the possibility that the first baseman will require a stint on the 10-day injured list due to the bone bruise in his left foot. As Grifol suggests, the White Sox will presumably reassess how Vaughn is feeling Monday before determining whether he'll be fit to play Tuesday or need to be deactivated. Yasmani Grandal will fill in for Vaughn at first base Sunday.

Luke Raley RF | SEA
Rays' Luke Raley: Rests against righty
Raley is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Orioles.
The lefty-hitting Raley has been a mainstay in the lineup against right-handed pitching for several weeks now, but he'll take a seat versus Orioles righty Tyler Wells in the series finale. With Raley on the bench, Harold Ramirez will get a chance to start at designated hitter Sunday despite not having the platoon advantage in his favor.

Ryan Mountcastle 1B | BAL
Orioles' Ryan Mountcastle: On bench Sunday
Mountcastle is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Rays.
Mountcastle will sit for the second time in five games, as he has yet to fully work his way back into an everyday role following his return from the 10-day injured list July 9. The Orioles seem content to take a committee approach to the designated-hitter spot, which will fall to Anthony Santander on Sunday.

Garrett Cooper 1B | ATL
Marlins' Garrett Cooper: Scratched with illness
Cooper was scratched from the Sunday's lineup against Colorado due to an illness, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports.
Cooper was penciled in as Miami's designated hitter Sunday but will instead sit out due to an ailment. The 32-year-old will have Monday's team off day to rest up before the Marlins open a two-game set Tuesday against Tampa Bay.

Ryan Noda 1B | BAL
Athletics' Ryan Noda: Tracks pitches Saturday
Noda (jaw) tracked pitches in the batter's box while James Kaprielian (shoulder) and Zach Jackson (elbow) completed mound sessions Saturday, the Associated Press reports.
The rookie still likely has at least a couple of more weeks on the shelf before returning from the fractured mandible he suffered while getting hit in the face during pregame fielding practice Tuesday. However, it's certainly a positive for Noda to try and remain mentally locked in as much as possible during his sudden shutdown. If Noda's healing process goes as expected, he may not need a rehab assignment before being activated.
