Andrew Vaughn 1B | MIL
White Sox's Andrew Vaughn: Nursing sore foot
Vaughn is absent from the lineup Wednesday while feeling the after effects of a foul ball off the foot from Tuesday's game, Daryl Van Schouwen of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.
Vaughn didn't have to come out of Tuesday's contest versus the Mets, but he remains sore a day later. It's not a bad time to give the first baseman a day off, anyway, considering his .188/.204/.208 start to July. Gavin Sheets is at first base Wednesday.

Jared Young 1B | NYM
Cubs' Jared Young: Sitting again Wednesday
Young is out of the lineup Wednesday versus the Nationals.
Young is slashing just .171/.256/.371 through 39 major-league plate appearances this season and hasn't started a game for the Cubs since last Friday. The 28-year-old first baseman and corner outfielder could be on the verge of a demotion to Triple-A Iowa.

White Sox's Andrew Vaughn: Sits amid slump
Vaughn is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Mets.
After producing an. 811 OPS in June, Vaughn hasn't kept that momentum going into the current month. He's now slashing just .188/.204/.208 with a 30.6 percent strikeout rate in 12 games so far in July, and he has yet to draw a walk in 49 plate appearances on the month. Vaughn doesn't appear in any real danger of losing hold of an everyday role, but he'll cede his spot in the lineup to Gavin Sheets on Wednesday.

Darick Hall 1B | PIT
Phillies' Darick Hall: Exits starting nine
Hall is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Brewers.
The lefty-hitting Hall sat out both ends of a doubleheader last weekend when the Padres brought a pair of lefty starters to the hill, but he had manned first base in both of the Phillies' last two games against right-handed pitchers. However, Hall will find himself on the bench Wednesday versus righty Colin Rea, allowing Edmundo Sosa to crack the lineup at third base while Alec Bohm shifts over to first.

Triston Casas 1B | BOS
Red Sox's Triston Casas: Takes seat versus lefty
Casas is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Athletics, Chris Cotillo of The Springfield Republican reports.
The lefty-hitting Casas will retreat to the bench for the series finale in Oakland while southpaw Ken Waldichuk takes the hill for the Athletics. With Rafael Devers (calf) having been cleared to start at third base following a two-game absence, Justin Turner will move across the diamond to fill in for Casas at first base.

Ryan Noda 1B | BAL
Athletics' Ryan Noda: Out due to dental emergency
Noda was scratched from the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Red Sox due to a dental emergency, Martin Gallegos of MLB.com reports.
Unless Noda is still dealing with pain in his mouth area after visiting the dentist, he likely won't miss more than a day or two of action before returning to the Oakland lineup. As a result of Noda being scratched Wednesday, Shea Langeliers will make a fourth consecutive start behind the plate, while Tyler Soderstrom fills in for Noda at first base.

Ryan Noda 1B | BAL
Athletics' Ryan Noda: Scratched from lineup
Noda was scratched from the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Red Sox due to an unspecified issue.
Noda had been scheduled to start at first base and bat second in the series finale with Boston, but he'll instead take a seat for the second time in four days. Expect the Athletics to provide an explanation behind Noda's absence later Wednesday. With Noda on the bench, Shea Langeliers -- who had been scheduled to get Wednesday off -- will start behind the plate while Tyler Soderstrom gets the nod at first base.

Garrett Cooper 1B | ATL
Marlins' Garrett Cooper: Gets Wednesday off
Cooper is not in the starting lineup Wednesday versus the Cardinals, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports.
Cooper will get a day off after he went 3-for-10 with an RBI and four strikeouts over the first two games of the series. Yuli Gurriel will take over at first base and bat fifth as Miami looks to avoid getting swept by St. Louis.

Ryan O'Hearn 1B | PIT
Orioles' Ryan O'Hearn: Sitting versus lefty
O'Hearn will sit Wednesday against the Dodgers, Cordell Woodland of 105.7 The Fan Baltimore reports.
O'Hearn will get a breather after he went 2-for-6 with an RBI and a run scored over the first two games of the series. With left-hander Julio Urias on the mound, Ryan Mountcastle will slot in at first base while Jorge Mateo enters the lineup at shortstop after some shuffling, batting ninth in the series finale with Los Angeles.
